Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield will look to bounce back after a slow start to the season in a Week 4 home matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. The Panthers' offense has struggled to move the ball and score, but there is a chance they get things going this week against a Cardinals defense that is surrendering the second-most points per game in the NFL with 29. Better yet for Mayfield's prospects, most of the damage against Arizona has been through the air as they rank bottom-10 against opposing fantasy quarterbacks and allow the third-most passing yards per game. Mayfield cannot be trusted as a starting option in single-quarterback leagues but could be a serviceable low-end QB2 this week in superflex or two-QB formats.
Dynasty | Baker Mayfield completed 12-of-25 passes for 170 yards in Carolina's win against New Orleans. Dynasty Analysis: Mayfield is now averaging just 183 passing yards per game. Even worse, two of his 42 completions have accounted for 142 of his 550 passing yards on the year. In short, this has been bad thus far. Mayfield has now completed just 42-of-81 passes for a completion percentage of just 52%. The entire offense is struggling as Christian McCaffrey isn't catching passes and DJ Moore is nearly invisible. At this point, McCaffrey is the only Panthers player worth playing each week as this offense is hard to watch. Mayfield is currently our QB27 and that seems generous.
Carolina Panthers QB Baker Mayfield completed 12-of-25 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 3 against the New Orleans Saints.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield completed 12 of his 25 pass attempts for 170 yards and one touchdown in a 22-14 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Despite the win, the struggles continue for Mayfield, who has completed less than 15 passes in two straight games. No Panthers finished with more than two receptions in Week 3. The Saints weren't an easy matchup, but it is still clear at this point that the offensive weapons in Carolina are not seeing a boost in fantasy value with Mayfield under center. He is not an ideal starter in any format but should continue to be rostered as a low-end QB2 in superflex or two-quarterback leagues.
Quarterback Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers' offense have struggled to open the season and things won't get any easier in their Week 3 divisional bout with the New Orleans Saints. This will be Mayfield's first career start against the Saints, who just limited Tom Brady to a bottom-five fantasy finish last week. Mayfield is averaging just 190 passing yards and one passing touchdown per game through the first two weeks, so it's hard to have any sort of confidence in him going forward. Unless he starts to turn things around, Mayfield should not be considered in single-quarterback leagues and can be left on waivers. He is best viewed as a low-end QB2 in superflex and two-quarterback formats.
Carolina Panthers QB Baker Mayfield completed 14-of-29 passes for 145 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 2 against the New York Giants while running for 35 yards on six rushes.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield completed 14 of his 29 pass attempts for 145 yards and one touchdown, adding 35 rushing yards on five carries in a Week 2 loss to the New York Giants. He didn't turn the ball over but was mostly ineffective as the Panthers' offense struggled to score. A change of scenery hasn't made much of a difference for Mayfield so far this season and he is only worth rostering in two-QB or superflex fantasy leagues. Things won't get any easier for him next week in a tough matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield will look to improve on his lackluster Week 1 performance in a Week 2 away bout with the New York Giants. Emotions surely had an impact on Mayfield in his Panthers debut as he played his former team, the Cleveland Browns, but he wasn't bad for fantasy. Perhaps he will be able to focus more and have a stronger showing against a Giants defense that allowed a top-12 finish to Ryan Tannehill last week. Still, Mayfield is a low-end QB2 for now and should only be viewed as a viable option in superflex/two-QB leagues.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield completed 16 of his 27 passing attempts for 235 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in his regular-season debut against the Cleveland Browns. He also added a rushing touchdown and six rushing yards. Mayfield and the Panthers struggled early but fought their way back in the second half. He connected with Robbie Anderson on a 75-yard touchdown then led the offense to a field goal that gave them a 24-23 lead in the fourth quarter, only for Carolina to lose on a 58-yard field goal by Cleveland with seconds left on the clock. Mayfield continues to project as a low-end QB2 for fantasy that only deserves a roster spot in superflex/two-QB leagues.
Carolina Panthers QB Baker Mayfield completed 16-of-27 passes for 235 yards, one touchdowns and one interception while rushing for another score in Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns, his former team.
Dynasty | Christian McCaffrey had 33 rushing yards, four catches, 24 rushing yards and a touchdown in the Panthers opening day loss to the Browns. Dynasty Analysis: Someone may want to tell "hot seat Head Coach" Matt Rhule that McCaffrey is the best player they have. While the touchdown helped his fantasy day, McCaffrey only had 14 touches on the day. Baker Mayfield did little to impress in this one, outside of a 75-yard broken play pass to Robbie (not Robby) Anderson. Better days should be ahead for McCaffrey, but this was a disappointing return for the fantasy stud. He remains a top tier option in dynasty leagues.
Quarterback Baker Mayfield is set to make his regular-season debut for the Carolina Panthers in a Week 1 home matchup against his former team, the Cleveland Browns. The Browns' defense was bottom-five in passing yards allowed in 2021, so this won't be an easy first test for the Panthers' new signal-caller. Mayfield is coming off his worst fantasy season in which he only delivered two top-12 performances. Revenge will surely be on his mind, but Mayfield is a risky QB2 option and is off the fantasy radar this week in single-QB formats.

The Cleveland Browns defense opens the 2022 season with a road game against the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. Cleveland's defense will take on a familiar face as former Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield will be under center for Carolina. The Panthers were a very favorable matchup for fantasy defenses in 2021, allowing the second-most fantasy points per game. That being said, the Panthers' offense should be improved in 2022 with Mayfield representing a significant upgrade at quarterback over Sam Darnold and a healthy Christian McCaffrey at running back. Treat the Browns as a top-15 fantasy defense for Week 1.
Dynasty | The Jaguars have traded wide receiver Laviska Shenault to the Carolina Panthers, Dynasty Analysis: Compensation hasn't been disclosed as of yet, but it's likely a late round pick. Shenault just never really lived up to expectations in Jacksonville, posting 121 catches for 1,219 yards and five touchdowns over his two seasons. He'll now join forces with DJ Moore, Robbie Anderson, Terrace Marshall and Shi Smith. Shenault is likely the most physical of the Panthers receivers and should give Baker Mayfield one more decent weapon to utilize. As for his dynasty value, it's hard to see the needle moving much from his current ranking of WR68.
Carolina Panthers QB Baker Mayfield looked good in the preseason finale on Friday, Aug. 26. Mayfield completed 9-of-15 passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding one carry for four yards.
Fantasy Spin: It was a good finish to the preseason for Mayfield, who was named the team's starter earlier in the week. There is some upside with Mayfield, who has a solid cast of characters, but we wouldn't trust him as a starter in a 12-team league right now.
Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield completed nine of 15 passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns in Friday's 21-0 preseason win over the Buffalo Bills. Mayfield, who was officially named the Panthers' Week 1 starter earlier this week, played on four drives in the first half and made some impressive throws. With rookie Matt Corral (foot) out for the season and Sam Darnold (ankle) carted off with an injury of his own, Mayfield's status as the team's QB1 feels secure at the moment. He should be considered a low-end QB2 for fantasy and is probably only worth drafting in superflex formats.
Dynasty | Baker Mayfield will start on opening day for the Carolina Panthers. Dynasty Analysis: As expected, Mayfield beat out Sam Darnold, PJ Walker and Matt Corral (who was subsequently lost for the season with a foot injury) for the gig. Ironically, Mayfield will start against Cleveland in week one in what should be a saucy affair. This is a make or break year for both Mayfield and Carolina Head Coach Matt Rhule, so Mayfield will need to play well early. There's room for him to move up or down from his QB26 ranking. Buckle up.
The Carolina Panthers officially announced quarterback Baker Mayfield as their starting quarterback for Week 1 of the regular season against his former team, the Cleveland Browns. When the Panthers acquired Mayfield from the Browns, it was presumed that he'd be the starter to open the 2022 season over Sam Darnold and rookie Matt Corral. Mayfield will have his revenge game after being pushed out of Cleveland after a tough 2021 season in which he played most of the year with a torn labrum in his left shoulder, amid a handful of other injuries. The 27-year-old could bounce back with better health, but he also won't have a very long leash if he struggles early on. In fantasy football, Mayfield will be a low-end QB2 option.
Carolina Panthers QB Baker Mayfield was officially named the starter for Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns on Monday, Aug. 22.
Fantasy Spin: This should come as no surprise. Though there was a competition on paper with Sam Darnold, it will be Mayfield's job to lead the Panthers offense. Consider him a mid QB2.
