San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel remains on the roster, weeks after it was reported he wanted out. Yet, despite being speculated he would be gone by the end of the 2022 NFL Draft, the hybrid wideout wasn't moved. General manager John Lynch remains confident he can get the 26-year-old to sign an extension. However, linebacker Fred Warner was the most recent member of the franchise to chime in by indicating to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero that he expects Samuel to receive a new contract and remain with the Niners going forward. Unquestionably, Samuel was one of the most potent fantasy options last season. But considering he is looking to get significantly fewer snaps out of the backfield, his fantasy production could decline significantly, especially if he isn't paired with a quality signal-caller.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel started following the team on Instagram again, and he also liked a post about the team's general manager John Lynch stating that the issues between the team and Samuel can be worked out. The trade speculation and drama surrounding Samuel began with him removing all references to the team from his social media last month, so this reversal could be hinting at a resolution. The all-purpose weapon is due to make just under $4 million in the final year of his rookie contract, but it seems to be a near-certainty that he will not play on those terms. After pre-draft offers from the Detroit Lions and the New York Jets did not seem to be particularly close to what the 49ers wanted, things may be looking up for a return to action in San Francisco on a new deal. Whether Samuel's reported concerns about his usage are addressed remains to be seen.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel still wants to play for a new team. Yet, general manager John Lynch recently stated he believes he can "smooth things over" with the disgruntled superstar. While Lynch didn't care to elaborate on any recent discussions he's had with Samuel, it appears there's still a chance the hybrid wideout could remain in the Bay Area moving ahead. The 26-year-old is coming off his best year as a professional, finishing the 2021-22 season with 1,405 receiving yards and six touchdowns off 77 receptions. He also ran for 365 yards and found the end zone eight more times using his legs. Nonetheless, it's certainly not a definite that Samuel will rescind his request for a trade. However, things may be moving in a different direction.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel remains "dug in" regarding his request for a trade. The 2022 NFL Draft came and went, but the hybrid superstar remains on the roster, even after reports came to life that the Lions and Jets made offers to acquire his services. Samuel, who is coming off the best season of his career, certainly appears on his way out. However, there's also a chance that this crisis extends into training camp and beyond, creating a stalemate situation. Nonetheless, general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan are expected to do all they can to keep Samuel. However, things still aren't looking promising.

The New York Jets and Detroit Lions both made offers for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel during the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday night, but the 49ers wouldn't do it, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said on Friday on the Pat McAfee Show. The Jets offered pick No. 10 overall and a pick swap. When the Niners turned down the Lions, they eventually traded back up to get Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams. San Francisco has made it clear that they don't want to trade Samuel despite his public request, and Thursday's first round hammers that home. However, Samuel is almost certainly unhappy, so it remains to be seen how this situation will play out moving forward. It's unlikely that the 49ers will trade Samuel during Round 2 on Friday night if they didn't pull the trigger in the first round.

Apr 28 1:20pm ET

The New York Jets could still pull off a trade for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel on Thursday, according to sources. It sets up the possibility of the ultimate draft-night drama, and it's quite possible that both teams are waiting to see what's available at pick No. 10 before pulling the trigger. The Jets have the fourth and 10th overall picks in the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday night. Although a trade may be possible, it's still seen as a bit of a long shot given the Niners stance that they don't want to trade one of the most dynamic offensive players in the game. If one of the top receiving prospects -- Drake London, Garrett Wilson or Jameson Williams is available at pick No. 10 -- there remains a chance that the 49ers change their minds.

With the clock ticking before Thursday's first round of the NFL draft, all is quiet on the Deebo Samuel front for the San Francisco 49ers. One phone call could change everything, but as of right now, nothing is currently imminent for the Pro Bowl wide receiver. Earlier this week, general manager John Lynch said he "can't ever imagine wanting to move on from Deebo Samuel." Not only would any Samuel trade require a huge return, the team that trades for him would then need to sign him to a hefty contract extension. The 26-year-old is one of the most dynamic offensive players as a pass-catcher and a runner in the NFL, and no matter where he's playing in 2022, he'll be one of the first receivers off the board in fantasy drafts.

The New York Jets have been a rumored candidate to land San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel after he officially requested a trade last week. However, the Niners have no interest in trading the star pass-catcher, so there's a good chance he remains in San Francisco. A ransom for Samuel could persuade a trade, but the 49ers aren't actively looking for such a trade. If the Jets can't trade for Samuel, they "think extremely highly" of North Carolina State tackle Ickey Ekwonu at pick No. 4. Cincinnati cornerback Sauce Gardner fills a position of need and could be in play at the Jets No. 10 overall selection in the first round.

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch said he "can't ever imagine wanting to move on from Deebo Samuel." "He's just too good of a player ... We've got nothing but love for him and nothing but appreciation for what he's brought, but you just don't let guys like that walk. So, I can't envision a scenario where we would [trade him]," Lynch said. Samuel said last week that he requested a trade, and other reports noted that the star receiver/running back has refused to engage the team on a potential contract extension. The 26-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie deal and has a salary cap number of just under $5 million in 2022. Samuel had 77 catches for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns while also recording 365 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground in 2021. He's one of the most dynamic and productive players in fantasy at any position.

The San Francisco 49ers are getting calls from several teams who want to trade for wide receiver Deebo Samuel, and trade talks for the star wideout are expected to escalate during NFL draft week. The New York Jets, Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers are some of the teams with interest in trading for Samuel, but the question remains, will the 49ers be open to sending him away? Samuel will fetch a first-round pick in any trade and will also need to be signed to a long-term contract extension by any team that acquires him. The 26-year-old, who was the WR2 in fantasy last year behind only Cooper Kupp, officially requested a trade from the Niners in recent weeks and doesn't even want them to put a contract-extension offer on the table.

Apr 25 1:10pm ET

On the Pat McAfee show on Monday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said that the Green Bay Packers "should be in the mix for Deebo Samuel." It remains to be seen if the Packers will actually swing a blockbuster trade with the San Francisco 49ers for one of the best receivers in the game, but they are still in need of help at the position after trading Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this offseason. Samuel wants out of San Francisco and would arguably be the top potential fantasy wideout if he were to land in Green Bay with MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The 26-year-old is one of the most dynamic players in all of football and finished with 77 catches for 1,405 receiving yards and six touchdowns, adding 365 rushing yards and eight more TDs on the ground.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel remains adamant he wants to be traded. While several clubs throughout the league have expressed interest in acquiring his services, the Jets remain a favorite to strike a deal ahead of the 2022-23 season. General manager Joe Douglas is prepared to make a move for Samuel, with the No. 10 overall pick of the NFL Draft remaining on the table. The Jets also possess the No. 4 selection, although it's reported that New York will use that to bolster its defensive unit. Nonetheless, Samuel's fantasy outlook isn't getting any brighter, and he also wants to be cast exclusively as a wide receiver as opposed to his current hybrid role in San Francisco. While there's still a chance Samuel will remain in the Bay Area, it's more than likely he's already played his final game for the Niners.

Apr 22 4:10pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has officially requested a trade, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday that Samuel's unhappiness with the team isn't "about the money." "From my understanding Deebo Samuel basically told the 49ers I want to be traded and don't make an offer," Rapoport said. Samuel may not have requested a trade had the Niners already made him a substantial offer for an extension, but that isn't the case. Despite the 26-year-old's trade request, San Francisco has no intentions of trading him. If this isn't about money, there's a good chance that Samuel just doesn't want to be used as a running back like he was last year. All in all, Samuel was the WR2 in fantasy and should yet again be extremely attractive in fantasy, whether he's in San Fran or elsewhere.

The Kansas City Chiefs are unlikely to make a move for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel -- or Seattle's DK Metcalf, Tennessee's A.J. Brown or Washington's Terry McLaurin -- according to a team source. The source said all of those options "are probably all long shots at this point." The Chiefs traded All-Pro pass-catcher Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins this offseason, but they've also signed JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency. Kansas City is also likely to further address the position through next week's draft. Samuel has requested a trade out of San Francisco, but the 49ers currently have no intention of trading him.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has officially requested a trade, but the 49ers have zero intention of trading him, according to sources. If a team were to trade for Samuel, they'd likely have to go over the top and offer something that San Francisco couldn't refuse. Samuel is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is in line for a massive contract extension, especially considering how the receiver market has blown up this offseason. If the 26-year-old does stay in San Fran, we could see him used exclusively as a pass-catcher, as apparently Samuel isn't in love with becoming a hybrid receiver and running back. He was the No. 2 fantasy WR in 2021, behind only the Rams' Cooper Kupp.

The San Francisco 49ers had a pre-draft visit with Tennessee wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. on Wednesday. Jones is a versatile player as both a returner and receiver who moves well with the ball in his hands. It's notable that they met with a player with a similar skill set to Deebo Samuel, who has requested a trade. The 6-foot, 200-pounder earned All-SEC honors last year and had a 4.31-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, which was the fastest speed of any wideout. Jones certainly wouldn't be able to step in right away in his rookie season and fill the shoes of Samuel in San Francisco's offense, but they could draft him and groom him for something similar.

Apr 20 9:40pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel requested to be traded a few weeks ago, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. While it's unknown exactly why the 26-year-old wants out of the Bay Area, Pelissero hinted it might have something to do with his workload. Samuel is reportedly unhappy with his role on offense and is looking to play exclusively as a wide receiver in order to add years to his career, a request Kyle Shanahan may be unwilling to accommodate. Samuel had a monster year in 2021, finishing with 77 catches for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns. He also ran the ball 59 times, racking up 365 yards while adding eight more trips to the end zone. Nonetheless, if Samuel isn't keen on playing dual positions, his fantasy attractiveness will suffer, so managers should continue watching this situation as there will surely be more developments heading into the 2022-23 campaign.

Apr 20 12:50pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel said that he has asked the team to trade him. Samuel didn't want to discuss the specific reasons behind his request, but he has indeed let the Niners know about his desire to leave the organization. The 26-year-old do-it-all receiver/running back is heading into the final year of his rookie deal and likely wants to be paid more than the 49ers are willing to offer after the receiver market blew up this offseason. He was one of the most valuable fantasy pass-catchers last year, catching 77 passes for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns while also chipping in 59 carries for 365 yards and an additional eight TDs in 16 games. Any team willing to trade for Samuel would have to give up a lot, and a move out of San Francisco probably won't negatively affect his fantasy stock much, if at all.

Apr 19 8:40pm ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel appears ready to move on from the organization. The 26-year-old has pulled all 49ers related items from his social media pages and is skipping San Francisco's voluntary offseason program. He is entering the final year of his rookie deal and wants a new contract. In 2021, Samuel finished with 77 receptions, 1,405 receiving yards, and 14 total touchdowns. Possibly, the two sides work out a new deal before training camp. Otherwise, the speedy receiver could be sitting out 2022 or playing for a new organization.

From RotoBaller

Apr 18 10:20am ET

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is not expected to participate in the team's voluntary offseason workouts opening on Tuesday. Samuel's highly publicized contract situation remains unknown despite the front office giving every intention to extend him with a long-term deal. In a market where Christian Kirk received a deal worth $72 million and stars Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill broke the bank with new teams, Samuel certainly has the credentials to warrant a massive contract. However, his dual usage as both a receiver and a rusher makes him a bit complicated to properly value. It also certainly does not help the 49ers salary cap flexibility when quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo remains on the roster and defensive end Nick Bosa is also entering the final year of his rookie deal. The 26-year-old Samuel was a fantasy cheat code last year, recording 77 catches for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns through the air while adding 59 carries for 365 yards and eight scores on the ground.
