Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. played a season-high 49 percent of the offensive snaps with Raheem Mostert (ankle, knee) out in the ugly 56-19 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but he had just three carries for 21 yards and caught three of his four targets for 13 yards. Meanwhile, rookie running back De'Von Achane served as Miami's lead back with 18 total touches for 137 scrimmage yards and a touchdown through the air. The Dolphins aren't going to be resting players in a crucial Week 18 contest against the Buffalo Bills that will decide the winner of the AFC East. Even if Mostert misses his second straight game with multiple injuries, Wilson will most likely operate well behind Achane in Miami's backfield, making him no more than an RB3/flex option in deep PPR formats.

Dec 16 10:30am ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. didn't see a single touch in Week 14 with the rest of the backfield healthy. His fantasy relevance is heavily dependent on whether or not De'Von Achane (toe) plays in Week 15. Achane remains questionable through the usual Friday injury report, so Wilson does have a shot at getting some more opportunities. When the Dolphins took on the Jets in Week 12, Wilson played in place of Achane and he saw 11 carries for 56 yards and three catches for 17 yards. Wilson would serve more as a desperation backup option, so fantasy managers should monitor Achane's status if they need to deploy Wilson in lineups.

Nov 25 12:40pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. saw his biggest workload of the year in the Week 12 win over the New York Jets on Friday, just a week after being a healthy scratch. Rookie De'Von Achane (knee) was inactive, leading to Wilson carrying the ball 11 times for 56 yards (5.1 yards per carry) and catching all three of his targets for an additional 17 yards. Wilson looked fresh and explosive after missing the first six weeks of the season with an injury. He was actually outperforming lead back Raheem Mostert until Mostert scored twice on the ground in the second half. The 28-year-old should remain involved in this backfield, but his touch count could suffer once Achane is deemed healthy enough to play again. Wilson probably won't be a viable flex play in deeper leagues once Achane is back.

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said that running back Jeff Wilson Jr. will likely be active in Week 12 against the division-rival New York Jets this Friday after he was a healthy scratch in the Week 11 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. "Jeff is ready, fully healthy and I'm ready for the people's champ to get some action," McDaniel said. Wilson was the odd man out last week when rookie De'Von Achane (knee) returned from Injured Reserve, but Achane quickly aggravated his knee injury and the Dolphins also placed Salvon Ahmed (foot) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. It remains to be seen if Achane will even be cleared to play in Week 12, so Wilson could have a pretty decent role alongside Raheem Mostert this week.

Nov 19 11:50am ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (coach's decision) is a healthy scratch for Week 11 versus the Las Vegas Raiders. Wilson essentially became expendable this week after Miami activated De'Von Achane (knee) from injured reserve. The 28-year-old has totaled just 29 rushing and 50 receiving yards through three contests this year. For this Sunday (and perhaps beyond), the Dolphins will feature Achane and Raheem Mostert atop their depth chart while Salvon Ahmed rounds out the backfield.

Oct 27 2:10pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. is expected to see increased opportunities in Week 8 versus the New England Patriots. The 27-year-old returned from IR last week but mustered just one catch for four yards. Head coach Mike McDaniel explained that the team had plans to get him more involved, but that simply didn't work out. He should see increased touches this Sunday against a relatively soft Patriots defense. Nevertheless, Wilson will be the clear No. 2 option behind Raheem Mostert, limiting his fantasy upside.

Oct 23 12:10pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. was barely involved in his 2023 season debut in the Sunday night loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Wilson played just 14 percent of the offensive snaps and caught his only target for a gain of four yards. He didn't receive a single carry, while Salvon Ahmed saw two rushing attempts for three yards on a night where the stout Eagles defensive line completely shut down Miami's ground attack. The 27-year-old missed the first six games of the season while on Injured Reserve due to ribs and finger injuries, so it shouldn't come as a big surprise that he didn't play a big role. Wilson should start to see more involvement in the coming weeks, but it doesn't mean he'll be worthy of a starting lineup spot in Week 8 against the New England Patriots.

Oct 22 7:30pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (ribs, finger) will make his 2023-24 debut on Sunday night against Philadelphia. Without question, Raheem Mostert will handle a bulk of the touches out of the backfield. But Wilson could get involved, although he'll likely see a reduced workload for his first game back. However, with Wilson back in the mix, Salvon Ahmed, who had six carries for 23 yards and a touchdown in Week 6, will have a tough time remaining relevant for fantasy managers.

Oct 21 2:20pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (ribs, finger) has been activated off injured reserve. Wilson, who has been on IR since the beginning of the season, is now set to make his 2023 debut on Sunday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles. He will likely work in behind starting running back Raheem Mostert and will be a little rusty, considering it's his first game back. He's hard to trust from a fantasy perspective on Sunday but he should have some value moving forward as long as dynamic rookie De'Von Achane (knee) is out. Wilson tallied 392 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 84 carries to go along with 12 catches (24 targets) for 94 yards and a score through the air across eight games with the Dolphins in 2022.

Oct 20 5:00pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (ribs, finger) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The veteran practiced in full all week long. Miami will need to activate Wilson from IR in order for him to be eligible in Week 7, though such a move should come Saturday. He'll presumably operate as the Dolphins' No. 2 running back behind Raheem Mostert.

Oct 18 3:40pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (finger, ribs) is "doing great" and was "ready to go" last week in the win over the Carolina Panthers, according to head coach Mike McDaniel. Despite Wilson being ready, the team felt the need to use an open roster spot to activate offensive lineman Robert Jones instead. Wilson still needs to be officially activated from Injured Reserve, but that could come this week so that he can make his season debut in Week 7 in a showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles. Rookie De'Von Achane (knee) is out for at least three more games, so Wilson could eventually have a decent-sized role behind Raheem Mostert when he gets up to speed. Wilson should be stashed in most fantasy leagues, but managers shouldn't expect him to have a very big role in the backfield when he does make his 2023 debut.

From RotoBaller

Oct 14 7:40pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (finger, ribs) has been downgraded to out for the Week 6 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. There was a chance that Wilson would return for this game, but the Dolphins will wait at least one more week. They don't have to rush Wilson back with Raheem Mostert playing extremely well right now. The Dolphins will keep riding with Mostert for at least one more game, while Salvon Ahmed should serve as the backup.

From RotoBaller

Oct 13 4:10pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (finger, ribs) has officially been named doubtful for their upcoming game against the Carolina Panthers. The team doesn't have much of a reason to rush Wilson back to the field despite the fact that De'Von Achane (knee) won't be playing. Raheem Mostert has enjoyed a great season so far and Salvon Ahmed has done well as a backup so far. So, it looks like they'll probably wait at least one more week to activate Wilson off of IR and allow Mostert and Ahmed to control the backfield. His next chance to play will be against the Eagles in Week 7.

From RotoBaller

Oct 13 1:30pm ET

The Miami Dolphins are still considering whether to activate running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (finger, ribs) from Injured Reserve, but if they do, head coach Mike McDaniel said Wilson will likely be on a repetition count of no more than 25 reps if he plays in Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers. The Dolphins rotate their running backs and trust them all. When they were all healthy in 2022, Raheem Mostert was the 1A and Wilson was the 1B. Rookie De'Von Achane (knee) burst onto the scene in recent weeks, but he's now on Injured Reserve and will be forced to miss the next four games. It gives Wilson a chance to come off IR himself and contribute right away, but it sounds as though Salvon Ahmed might be ahead of him this Sunday if Wilson is active.

Oct 12 8:20pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (finger, ribs) was limited in practice for the second straight day on Thursday. The Dolphins opened up Wilson's 21-day window to activate him from Injured Reserve this week, and the coaching staff believes he's ready to play. However, it still remains to be seen if he'll be active for his season debut this weekend in a matchup against the winless Carolina Panthers. The Dolphins could use the help in the backfield after placing impressive rookie De'Von Achane (knee) on Injured Reserve this week. If Wilson doesn't return in Week 6, Salvon Ahmed will back up lead back Raheem Mostert. The 27-year-old Wilson should be picked up immediately if he's available on your league's waiver wire, but it would be a bit much to expect him to have a big role if he's active for the first time this year on Sunday.

Oct 12 11:30am ET

Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith said "yes" when asked if running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (ribs) looks ready to make his 2023 season debut in Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers based on practice this week. Wilson was officially limited in practice on Wednesday, opening a 21-day window for the team to officially activate him from Injured Reserve after he missed the first five weeks of the season. It would be perfect timing for Wilson's return with rookie De'Von Achane (knee) being put on IR on Wednesday. The 27-year-old should be scooped up off the waiver wire in fantasy leagues, regardless of whether he plays this Sunday. If Wilson has to wait another week, Salvon Ahmed would serve as Raheem Mostert's primary backup against Carolina.

Oct 11 1:50pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (ribs) will return to practice for the first time on Wednesday, which opens his 21-day window to be activated from Injured Reserve. It comes at a perfect time for the Dolphins after they placed impressive rookie De'Von Achane (knee) on Injured Reserve on Wednesday. Achane will now miss the next four games after exploding onto the NFL scene in recent weeks. If Wilson looks good at practice this week, he could be activated to make his 2023 debut this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers as a complement to Raheem Mostert. The 27-year-old could have standalone fantasy value eventually with Achane out of the picture temporarily, but temper expectations for Wilson initially if he plays this weekend.

From RotoBaller

Oct 9 1:20pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (ribs) is expected to have his 21-day window opened this week for a potential return from Injured Reserve, according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus. Wilson was eligible to return from IR to make his season debut in Week 5, but that didn't happen. The Dolphins already have a very deep RB room with Raheem Mostert, impressive rookie De'Von Achane and Salvon Ahmed, and now they could be getting Wilson back in time for this week's game versus the Carolina Panthers. Mostert and Achane have been an amazing one-two punch for Miami's backfield, so it remains to be seen how much playing time Wilson will actually get, but he is a favorite of head coach Mike McDaniel. For now, the 27-year-old is merely a stash candidate if you have Mostert or Achane rostered.

From RotoBaller

Oct 4 3:40pm ET

Miami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. (abdomen), who missed the first four games of the season while on Injured Reserve, is not yet ready to practice and the Dolphins will not yet open the 21-day window for him to return from IR. It was previously reported that Wilson would be ready for the Week 5 contest against the New York Giants, but that doesn't look to be the case as of Wednesday. Miami doesn't have any reason to rush the 27-year-old back at this point, with both Raheem Mostert and rookie De'Von Achane looking great in tandem through the first four weeks of the season. Wilson is worth stashing in an IR spot in fantasy leagues if you have the room, but don't expect him to have a big role upon his return as long as both Mostert and Achane remain healthy.
