The New York Jets have given quarterback Zach Wilson's agent permission to seek a trade, according to general manager Joe Douglas. The Jets are fully expected to trade Wilson this offseason after he struggled yet again in 2023 while being forced into starting duties when Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles early in the first quarter in Week 1. The 24-year-old Wilson was benched eventually and ended the year on Injured Reserve due to a concussion. The former second overall pick has been a massive bust in the NFL and is unlikely to be competing for a starting job with whichever team he lands with via trade. Rodgers will return in 2024 as New York's starting signal-caller, but the Jets are searching for a veteran backup that will be an improvement over Wilson.

The New York Jets are expected to trade quarterback Zach Wilson in the coming weeks as they look to upgrade the backup quarterback position behind Aaron Rodgers. There's a "high probability" of that happening, general manager Joe Douglas recently said. The consensus among three personnel executives, one scout and two assistant coaches from other teams is that Wilson could bring back a sixth- or seventh-round pick from a team willing to take a chance on him as a backup due to his first-round draft pedigree. The Jets could also seek a 2025 conditional pick based on playing time, but they're also unlikely to "get the value they want" in a straight-up trade. Wilson was forced into starting duties in 2023 when Rodgers tore his Achilles in Week 1, but he regressed even more and was benched late in the year.

The New York Jets will attempt to trade quarterback and former No. 2 pick Zach Wilson during the upcoming offseason, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday morning. The 24-year-old stepped in for Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) back in Week 1 but underwhelmed, completing 60 percent of his passes for 2,271 yards, eight touchdowns, seven interceptions, and seven lost fumbles. He was temporarily benched during the middle of the season and also missed the Jets' final three games due to a concussion. New York won't be able to recoup the early first-round pick it spent to first acquire Wilson, but they could still secure a mid- or late-round selection given that the BYU product is young and flashed potential at times.

Jan 3 1:10pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson (concussion) has not cleared the league's concussion protocol and will not play in the Week 18 regular season finale on Sunday against the New England Patriots, according to head coach Robert Saleh. It means that Trevor Siemian will make the start in the team's final game of the year. The 24-year-old Wilson's future with the team is up in the air this offseason after another disappointing campaign in which he had a shot to prove himself after Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles in Week 1. The former No. 2 overall pick threw for 2,271 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions in 12 games played while also losing 10 fumbles. There's a good chance Wilson won't be in a Jets uniform for the start of the 2024 season this fall.

Dec 29 12:40pm ET

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters on Friday that the team is taking a wait-and-see approach with quarterback Zach Wilson (concussion) for the Week 18 regular season finale against the New England Patriots. "We'll see where he's at. He will definitely be part of the discussion. We just need to get him healthy first," Saleh said when asked if Wilson will be the starter if healthy for next week. In ESPN New York's Rich Cimini's opinion, Trevor Semien will make another start on Jan. 7 to close out the Jets' season. New York has nothing left to play for, so they are unlikely to rush Wilson through the league's concussion protocol to have him play in a meaningless game. The 24-year-old has missed the last two games due to a concussion suffered in Week 15.

Dec 26 2:50pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson (concussion) will not face the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night Football. The third-year pro is still in the league's concussion protocol, and he will not be ready to play on a short week. This means veteran journeyman Trevor Siemian will draw his second straight start for Gang Green. Last week against the Washington Commanders, Siemian had a decent showing, completing 27 of his 49 passing attempts for 217 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. However, the Browns defense has surrendered fourth-fewest fantasy points to signal-callers this year, so he's off the fantasy radar in Week 17.

Dec 25 8:40pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson (concussion) was estimated as a non-participant on Monday. He initially suffered the injury back in Week 15 and missed the Jets' game this past Sunday. With New York in the midst of a short week, Wilson would need to clear concussion protocol rather quickly in order to play on Thursday night versus the Cleveland Browns. He has 2,271 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions, so even if active, he'd remain off the fantasy radar versus a strong Cleveland defense. In the event that Wilson can't suit up, Trevor Siemian would draw his second consecutive start.

Dec 22 3:40pm ET

New York Jets quarterbacks Zach Wilson (concussion) and Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) have been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders. Wilson missed all three practices this week and has yet to clear concussion protocol, so it's no surprise that he'll spend this weekend on the sideline. Meanwhile, Week 16 had always been Rodgers' target date for a miraculously quick return, and although he did practice on Friday, the Jets are just 5-9 and their bleak rest-of-season outlook will keep the future Hall of Famer on the sideline. Look for Trevor Siemian to start at quarterback this week. He's off the fantasy radar, though wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall are still worth starting.

Dec 22 12:50am ET

New York Jets quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) and Zach Wilson (concussion) didn't participate in Thursday's practice. Rodgers' 2023 fate in terms of a potentially miraculous comeback from a Week 1 Achilles tear was sealed when the Jets were eliminated from postseason contention in a Week 15 loss. The future Hall of Famer's absence at Thursday's session is merely a formality, as it's already been reported that Rodgers won't play again for Gang Green this season as he continues his rehab. Wilson, on the other hand, is looking to overcome the concussion protocol and gain clearance to play in Week 16 versus an awful Washington Commanders defense, but his back-to-back DNPs don't inspire much optimism for that to happen. Head coach Robert Saleh stated on Monday that Wilson will start if he is healthy, but it seems more likely that Trevor Siemian is under center on Sunday. Wilson will try to return to Friday's session.

Dec 20 12:20pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson (concussion) remains in the league's concussion protocol on Wednesday. The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt writes that it seems unlikely that Wilson will play this weekend against the Washington Commanders on Christmas Eve, especially since the Jets were officially eliminated from the playoffs with last Sunday's blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins. Wilson will not practice on Wednesday and is unlikely to be an option for fantasy managers in two-QB superflex leagues in Week 16. Instead, it appears that Trevor Siemian will make his first start of the year after replacing a concussed Wilson in Week 15 and promptly throwing two interceptions. He's been bad in spot duty the last two weeks, going 19-for-39 for 176 yards, zero touchdowns and two picks. It wouldn't be a surprise if Brett Rypien replaced Siemian at some point this Sunday.

Dec 19 1:10am ET

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said on Monday that quarterback Zach Wilson (concussion) is the team's starter if he is able to clear the NFL's concussion protocol ahead of Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders. The Jets were eliminated from playoff contention after Week 15's dismal 30-0 loss to the Miami Dolphins, so any hopes of Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) perhaps making a miraculous comeback from his Week 1 Achilles tear have probably gone by the wayside. Wilson is 4-7 as a starter this year, passing for 2,271 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions with 211 rushing yards overall. Trevor Siemian replaced Wilson against Miami, completing 14-of-26 passes for 110 yards and two picks. It's likely a no-win situation for fantasy managers of New York's surrounding skill positions, but the Commanders have at least given up the second-most fantasy points to opposing signal-callers.

Dec 17 7:20pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Trevor Siemian completed 14 of his 26 pass attempts for 110 scoreless yards and two interceptions in a 30-0 loss to the Miami Dolphins. He also lost a fumble in the contest. Siemian replaced Zach Wilson (concussion) late in the first half after the latter took four sacks and suffered a concussion. Unfortunately, Siemian was unable to provide a spark for the Jets' offense, which totaled just 103 yards. If Wilson is unable to clear the NFL's concussion protocol in time for a Week 16 showdown with the Washington Commanders, Siemian could get the start, unless Aaron Rodgers (knee) is ready to return.

Dec 17 4:00pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson (head) was officially diagnosed with a concussion. The signal-caller struggled against the Dolphins before heading to the locker room before the end of the first half. It was initially reported he was battling dehydration. However, the latest update could mean he won't play in the Week 16 meeting with the Washington Commanders. There's a chance Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) could be back, although it appears Trevor Siemian may be the most likely replacement if Wilson isn't available for that one.

Dec 17 3:10pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson (head) has been ruled out for the remainder of Week 15 versus the Miami Dolphins. He was taken to the locker room during the second quarter to get hydrated, according to the CBS broadcast. The former No. 2 pick finishes Sunday's game having completed just four of 11 passes for 26 yards. He also took four sacks and lost a fumble. Trevor Siemian will handle quarterback reps for the rest of this divisional clash.

Dec 15 10:10pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson will be carrying some positive momentum from last week's win over the Houston Texans into a Week 15 divisional showdown with the Miami Dolphins. Wilson was initially listed on the team's injury report this week with a knee ailment but logged three full practices and is set to suit up on Sunday. Wilson effectively led New York's offense to 30 points against Houston, but the Dolphins could pose a bit more of a challenge, especially in Miami. Although they are dealing with several injuries on defense, the Dolphins have surrendered just over 19 points per game at home this season. Nonetheless, Wilson should be entering the contest with confidence and will likely be forced to throw the ball to keep up with Miami's offense. The 24-year-old still isn't a particularly enticing fantasy option, but he could be a serviceable QB2 in superflex leagues this week.

Dec 13 7:30pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson (knee) is on the Week 15 injury report but was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. Wilson is dealing with a minor knee ailment that isn't expected to keep him from starting in Week 15 against the Miami Dolphins. The 24-year-old excelled and had by far his best game of the season in last Sunday's blowout win over the Houston Texans when he went 27-for-36 for 301 yards and two touchdowns in his return to the starting role following a two-game benching. Wilson isn't all of the sudden on the QB1 radar after that performance, but he could be in a position to keep the positive momentum going this weekend against a Dolphins defense that is pretty beat up right now. The Jets could also have to take to the air often to keep up with Miami's explosive offense.

Dec 11 6:20pm ET

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh said that quarterback Zach Wilson (knee) is on the early Week 15 injury report but said Wilson should be fine for Sunday's contest against the Miami Dolphins. Wilson could be rested early in the practice week, but the 24-year-old should be fine to play this weekend following by far his best performance of the year in the surprising 30-6 win over the visiting Houston Texans on Sunday. Wilson stepped up to the plate after being benched the previous two games, going 27-for-36 for a season-high 301 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. The former first-rounder will be hoping to build on that outing in Week 15 against the division-rival Dolphins, but he'll be no more than a low-end QB2 option for fantasy managers in superflex leagues once again.

Dynasty | Zach Wilson threw for 301 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in the Jets surprise victory over the Texans in week 14. Dynasty Analysis: Wilson balled out and had coaches and teammates buzzing. It's only one week and it's hard to know what comes next for the embattled quarterback but he's riding a high and will have little time to savor the victory with a trip to Miami on tap. Unranked on DLF's quarterback rankings, the feel good story is little more than that at this juncture and with an extremely murky future, there's little reason to rush an addition of the 24-year-old.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Dec 10 7:40pm ET

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson completed 27 of his 36 pass attempts for 301 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions in a 30-6 victory over the Houston Texans. Wilson added 12 yards rushing on three carries but did lose a fumble. The 24-year-old delivered his best showing of the season in his return to the starting lineup after being benched in Week 12. He connected with Randall Cobb and Breece Hall for scores in the second half and led the Jets to their best offensive output of the campaign. Although Wilson will remain a low-end fantasy QB2 going forward, he clearly raises the value of New York's weapons. His next challenge will come against the Miami Dolphins in Week 15.
