Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen may be asked to restructure his contract this season, but the team may also consider releasing him in order to create some salary cap space.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen finished the season with 726 yards and 10 touchdowns and should be a productive receiver no matter where he plays in 2022. He can be a No. 3 or No. 4 fantasy receiver next season.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen (ankle) is recovering well from ankle surgery and expects to be ready by Spring workouts. He missed the season's final two games and underwent ankle surgery in late December. The 31-year-old finished with 67 receptions for 726 yards and ten touchdowns over 13 games in 2021. "Feel great," Thielen said Monday. "Walking around again, which feels nice. My ankle wasn't stable, so I had to do the surgery, which was a bummer, obviously. I want to be out there competing with my teammates. It was a bummer not to be able to finish out the year, but it could have been a lot worse. It's a pretty easy surgery, and everything went pretty well." Thielen was closing in on his third 1,000-yard campaign but fell short after missing four of the last five games due to his ankle injury. The veteran is signed through 2024 and is expected to maintain his role as Vikings WR2 alongside star wideout Justin Jefferson. Thielen is considered a borderline WR2 in the early wide receiver rankings in 2022.

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 29.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen finishes the season with 726 yards and 10 touchdowns. He can be a No. 3 receiver next season if he is healthy. K.J. Osborn will receive a bigger workload over the final two games and can be a flex option in some deeper leagues.

Dec 29 12:43pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (ankle) underwent season-ending ankle surgery Tuesday, Dec. 28.

Fantasy Spin: K.J. Osborn, who is coming off a 5-68-1 performance, will remain a WR3 in Thielen's absence.

From TheHuddle

Dec 29 12:30pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen (ankle) will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his ankle, according to sources. Thielen returned in Week 16 after missing the previous two games with a high left ankle sprain, but he aggravated the injury in the loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The talented wideout will finish his 2021 campaign with 67 receptions for 726 yards and a team-leading 10 touchdowns in 13 games played. Fantasy managers can drop Thielen this week for other options on the waiver wire if they are still alive in the playoffs. Alongside star wideout Justin Jefferson, K.J. Osborn will once again be the No. 2 wideout in Minnesota, making him more attractive as a WR3/flex in starting lineups. Tight end Tyler Conklin will also see added targets to close out the regular season.

Dec 27 10:43pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (ankle) is dealing with soreness in his ankle but hopefully will be available for the Week 17 game, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen appears to aggravate his ankle injury during the last game, so fantasy players will need to monitor his practice participation during the week. He is a weekly starting option when healthy, but players should have other options ready in case he is not available.

From TheHuddle

Dec 26 3:20pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen (ankle) has returned to Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams after aggravating his ankle injury in the first half. Thielen missed the previous two weeks due to a high ankle sprain and was pretty upset when he limped off the field in the second quarter, but he is going to tough it out in a must-win game for Minnesota. It remains to be seen how effective he'll be in the second half, but he has caught all three of his targets for a team-high 40 yards. Thielen is one of the best route-runners in the NFL, and the combination of both he and second-year receiver Justin Jefferson is one of the best WR duos in the league. Even if Thielen finishes out the game, expect him to be rested in practice next week ahead of Week 17.

From RotoBaller

Dec 26 2:40pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen (ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams after aggravating his ankle injury. Thielen was injured after catching a pass and looked pretty upset as he limped off the field under his own power. Considering that Thielen missed the previous two games with a high ankle sprain, it seems likely that he won't return in the second half of this game. The 31-year-old caught both of his targets for a team-high 34 yards in the first half before aggravating his ankle. Fantasy managers might be in trouble in their matchups this week if he's unable to return. Star wideout Justin Jefferson and K.J. Osborn will need to pick up the slack in the second half if Thielen is unable to return, and tight end Tyler Conklin will be more involved as well.

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (ankle) is officially active for the Week 16 game.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen was sidelined for a few games because of the injury but should see a good amount of targets this week. He can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (ankle) is pushing to play in Week 16's game against the Los Angeles Rams, according to a source.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen had been listed as questionable on the injury report after logging three limited practice sessions during the week. He can be a starting option in all fantasy leagues if he is cleared to play but owners will have to monitor the inactive list for his official status.

Dec 26 8:10am ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen (ankle) is expected to play against the Rams on Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The 31-year-old is listed as questionable and has not played since Week 13 against Detroit. However, it looks like his streak of absences will end at just two games. Thielen's return to the lineup helps alleviate some of the pain caused by Dalvin Cook's placement on Reserve/COVID-19. This week, Thielen will slot in alongside Justin Jefferson and rank as a mid-range WR2 for fantasy purposes.

From RotoBaller

Dec 24 7:33pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 24, and is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen was a limited participant all week and seems to have a chance to be active for the Week 16 game. Fantasy players will need to check the inactive list for his official status, but he can be a starting option in all leagues if active.

From TheHuddle

Dec 24 5:43pm ET

Minnesota Vikings FB C.J. Ham (hamstring) was upgraded to a limited practice Friday, Dec. 24, and is listed as questionable for Week 16 against the Los Angeles Rams. WR Adam Thielen (ankle) was limited in practice all week but no longer appears on the injury report. QB Kirk Cousins (ribs) practiced in full for a second straight day on Friday and has also been removed from the injury report. From TheHuddle

Dec 24 2:00pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen (ankle) has been tagged as questionable to play in Sunday's game vs. the Rams due to an ankle injury. Thielen has been sidelined for each of the past two weeks, paving the way for K.J. Osborn to step into fantasy relevance, while Justin Jefferson has enjoyed elevated appeal. While the receiving yards in 2021 have not been up to his past standards, Thielen has hauled in 10 touchdowns this year, his second straight campaign in double figures. He will be matched up with a stout Rams defense if he is ultimately cleared to play, while the absence of Dalvin Cook (Reserve/COVID-19) could force the ball into the air a bit more. Fantasy managers will likely need to monitor Thielen's status all the way up until kickoff Sunday.

From RotoBaller

Dec 23 8:53pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (ankle) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 23.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen is working his way back from an ankle injury, but his status for Week 16 is still uncertain. He is a weekly starting option when healthy, so fantasy players will need to check the inactive list for his official status.

From TheHuddle

Dec 23 7:20pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen (ankle) put in another day of limited practice on Thursday. Thielen has missed the last two games with a high ankle sprain, but he's made real progress this week and could be available to return for a Week 16 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams this weekend. He was a game-time decision for the Week 15 win over the Chicago Bears, so Thielen is certainly close to returning for fantasy managers that are in their league's semifinal matchup. There's a chance that Thielen could be limited if he's active this weekend, but if he's active, he should be in play as a WR2 in a game in which the Vikings will likely have to throw much more than they did on Monday night against the Chicago Bears. K.J. Osborn would go back to being the No. 3 wideout if Thielen returns.

From RotoBaller

Dec 23 6:43pm ET

Minnesota Vikings OL Mason Cole (elbow) and FB C.J. Ham (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 23. WR Adam Thielen (ankle) was limited. QB Kirk Cousins (ribs) practiced in full. LB Eric Kendricks (back) and RB Alexander Mattison (non-injury) were not given a practice designation.

From TheHuddle

Dec 22 7:53pm ET

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 22. The Vikings did not hold a practice Wednesday, so this is an estimation.

Fantasy Spin: Thielen has missed the last few games because of his ankle injury but appears to have a chance to play against the Los Angeles Rams. Fantasy players should check on his status later in the week because he can be a starting fantasy option if healthy.

From TheHuddle

Dec 22 6:30pm ET

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen (ankle) was listed as a limited practice participant on Wednesday. This was Thielen's first time practicing since he suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 13, which gives him a chance to return this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. The 31-year-old was a game-time decision on Monday night despite not practicing at all last week. Thielen is certainly making progress, but it doesn't guarantee that he'll play or even be effective if he's active this weekend. Second-year wideout Justin Jefferson will be an elite WR1 regardless of whether Thielen returns, but K.J. Osborn, who has been serving as the No. 2 in Thielen's absence, would lose most of his flex appeal if Thielen were to return in Week 16. Rookie Ihmir Smith-Marsette caught his first career touchdown in Monday's win over the Chicago Bears.
