Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon rushed for 503 yards and five touchdowns during the first half of the 2024 season and rushed for 513 yards and six touchdowns during the second half of the season.

Fantasy Spin: Mixon was a terrific addition by the Texans last year and should continue to be the starter for the team this season even though the team added Nick Chubb. Mixon should be a weekly starting option in all fantasy leagues even if he loses some touches to Chubb.

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (foot, ankle) should be ready to participate in training camp 'at some point,' although it may not be the first day or so of practice, according to KPRC's Aaron Wilson.

Fantasy Spin: Wilson made it clear that Mixon is "moving well now" while still wearing a protective brace. There is no of knowing how much Mixon's current issues had to do with the team signing Nick Chubb, but it seems clear that the former's days of handling 20-plus touches are probably over. Not only is a (presumably) healthy Chubb a huge threat to Mixon's early-down work, but rookie Woody Marks is also a huge threat to his work in the passing game. Unless Mixon is wildly impressive in camp or Chubb gets hurt, he may be no better than a low-end RB2 this year.

Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (ankle, foot) is expected to be ready at some point during training camp this summer, according to KPRC 2 Sports' Aaron Wilson. It's a bit ambiguous, but Wilson also goes on to say that it's possible Mixon will be taking part in workouts on the first day of camp in late July. The 28-year-old apparently aggravated ankle and foot injuries that he battled through in 2024, which is why he didn't take part in OTAs this spring. Barring a setback, Mixon should be ready for the start of the regular season, but it's certainly something that fantasy managers should be keeping close tabs on after he was in a protective brace. He finished as the RB15 in half-PPR leagues in his first year in Houston but was noticeably quiet toward the end of the year after battling ankle issues. There are injury concerns with Mixon, but he should at least be a high-end RB2 with plenty of volume if he can stay on the field.

Updating a previous report, Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (undisclosed) is no longer wearing a walking boot but is now wearing an ankle brace, according to sources. He seems to have a good chance to be ready for training camp.

Fantasy Spin: Mixon probably will be a full participant when camp starts and will continue to be the main running back for the Texans even after the team added Nick Chubb. He is coming off a successful 2024 season and will be a weekly starting option in most leagues.

Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (undisclosed) did not participate in the offseason workout Tuesday, June 3, but is expected to be ready for training camp, according to a source. Mixon has been wearing a walking boot this offseason, according to sources.

Fantasy Spin: Mixon probably does not need much work this offseason to prepare for the season, so he may not be on the field again until training camp. He will receive most of the work at running back if is healthy and can be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.

May 30 7:50pm CT

Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (foot) did not participate in voluntary OTA workouts on Friday. Mixon is currently in a walking boot, but it's reportedly not a serious injury. The star running back played through an ankle injury in the playoffs, so maybe it's not 100 percent healed yet. Regardless, fantasy managers shouldn't be concerned as Mixon should be ready to go in time for training camp. The Texans aren't going to push Mixon onto the field this early into camp when he's not fully healthy. This minor injury shouldn't impact his status on draft boards.

Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Wednesday, May 28. He was recently seen wearing a walking boot because of a minor injury, according to a source.

Fantasy Spin: Mixon does not need to practice much this offseason as long as he is healthy for training camp. He should see plenty of touches this upcoming season and will be a weekly starting option in fantasy leagues.

Dynasty | The Texans drafted USC running back Woody Marks in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Dynasty Analysis: It's a solid landing spot for Marks, who will battle the likes of Dameon Pierce and Dare Ogunbowale for snaps behind current workhorse Joe Mixon. While seeing a path to early season playing time looks tough, Marks looks like a decent late round stash in rookie drafts for managers willing to play the long game.

Dynasty | With the 14th pick of the fourth round, the Houston Texans add RB Woody Marks. Dynasty Analysis: Houston was rumored to be in the mix for a running back way before this, but spent most of Day 2 addressing their offensive line and wide receiver depth, so this is ultimately good news for the veteran Joe Mixon. Though the Texans did trade up for Marks, Mixon should remain a top-15 RB option for contending Dynasty squads.

Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon will not be forced to pay a $25,000 fine from the National Football League for his criticism of officials following the team's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round playoff game. Mixon appealed the fine in late January and was informed of the league's decision to rescind it on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Jan 18 6:50pm CT

Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon was one of the few bright spots for his team in a season-ending defeat to Kansas City on Saturday, during which he compiled 100 yards from scrimmage and scored his team's only touchdown. The former Cincinnati Bengal rushed for a game-high 88 yards on 18 carries, and also hauled in two of his three targets for another 12 yards. Unfortunately for Houston, its pass protection and kicking game were major letdowns, as the line allowed eight sacks and kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn missed two field goals and an extra point. It was a largely productive first season in Houston for Mixon, who hit 1,000 yards rushing and scored 12 regular-season touchdowns, but Houston's season concludes in the Divisional Round for the second straight year.

Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud went 19-for-28 for 245 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional Round playoff game. He also rushed for 42 yards on six carries during the game. RB Joe Mixon rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries while also catching two passes for 12 yards. WR Nico Collins caught five passes for 81 yards on eight targets, TE Dalton Schultz caught four passes for 63 yards on four targets and WR Xavier Hutchinson caught four passes for 52 yards on six targets.

Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is officially active for the Divisional Round playoff game.

Fantasy Spin: Mixon did not practice much during the week but should see plenty of touches against the Kansas City Chiefs. He has played well this season and should be a starting option in all fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Jan 18 2:10pm CT

According to the team, Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (ankle) is officially active for Saturday's playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Mixon popped up on the injury report as a limited participant on Wednesday and was downgraded to a non-participant on Thursday. However, the top running back was able to turn the corner in time for Saturday's game. Last weekend, during their wild-card victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, Mixon ran for 106 yards and a score on 25 attempts. Through 14 regular season games, Mixon averaged a strong 17.1 PPR points per game and remains a top play in DFS competitions despite the tough matchup in Kansas City.

Houston Texans Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon (ankle), who is questionable to play in the Divisional Round on Saturday against the Kansas City Chiefs after being limited in practice this week, will play, according to sources. Mixon was limited in practice on Wednesday and did not practice on Thursday, leading to his questionable tag. However, the Texans said on Friday that the 28-year-old was expected to play, and now it's official that he'll be active to kick off the Divisional Round of the postseason as the Texans look to pull a huge upset on the road in KC. The two-time Pro Bowler ran for 1,016 yards and scored 12 total touchdowns in the regular season and also had over 100 yards rushing and a TD in last week's win over the Chargers. However, his ankle could limit him somewhat on Saturday against a Chiefs defense that allowed the fewest PPR points to RBs all season long.

Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (ankle) will play in the team's Divisional Round playoff game versus the Kansas City Chiefs Saturday, Jan. 18, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Spin: Mixon had been listed as questionable on the injury report after sustaining an injury during practice Wednesday, Jan. 15, which caused him to be limited on that day and to miss practice altogether Thursday, Jan. 16. He should be considered a starting option in all fantasy leagues, with RB Dameon Pierce worthy of consideration as a flex option.

From TheHuddle

Jan 17 2:00pm CT

Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon (ankle) is reportedly expected to play during Saturday's Divisional Round against the Kansas City Chiefs. The star back suffered an ankle injury and was unable to practice on Thursday. As a result, Mixon is tagged as questionable for this weekend, but it's hard to imagine him sitting out this important contest. The Texans are likely being cautious with Mixon, which is why he missed Thursday's practice. If he sits, Dameon Pierce and Dare Ogunbowale would be the primary options in the backfield. Pierce is the better fantasy option between the two backs, but if Mixon plays then neither back would be worth a look. If healthy, Mixon would be one of the best backs for DFS contests for this weekend.
