Dynasty | The New England Patriots are trading quarterback Mac Jones to Jacksonville. Dynasty Analysis: The Patriots moving on from Jones was seemingly inevitable and now it becomes official, This is a classic trade where it's better in NFL terms than it is in fantasy. Jones will compete with CJ Beathard to back up Trevor Lawrence but it's going to take another Lawrence injury for Jones to have any chance at seeing the field. The compensation was reportedly only a sixth round pick so it's not even out of the question Beathard beats him out for a roster spot this Fall. Regardless, the demise of Jones' dynasty value is now complete and he's a tough hold on a dynasty roster.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly acquired quarterback Mac Jones from the New England Patriots. This move was expected as Jones was reportedly on the trade block heading into the offseason. The Pats are looking to go in a new direction with Jerod Mayo taking over as the head coach in New England. Jones struggled during his time in New England and was even benched for Bailey Zappe this past season. In exchange for Jones, the Pats will reportedly receive a sixth-round draft pick. The hope is that a change of scenery will help Jones get his career back on track. This move doesn't hold much fantasy value considering Trevor Lawrence will remain the starter in Jacksonville. However, the Jags are hopeful to turn Jones into a quality backup.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Pats have fielded calls for quarterback Mac Jones. The 2021 No. 15 overall pick showed promise in his inaugural season, tossing for 3,801 yards and 22 touchdowns (13 interceptions) off 67.6% passing. However, his production has plummeted since then. As a result, he wasn't starting consistently throughout the 2023-24 campaign, so his stock to end the season couldn't have gotten much lower. In all fairness, Jones can't take all the blame for his troubles under center. Yet, even with a new coaching staff, the 25-year-old could benefit from a fresh start with a new team. With that in mind, Jones has a long road ahead before becoming relevant for fantasy managers. But he's someone to watch over the next few months, especially if he gets paired with a coach who can help him develop.

Even though Bill Belichick is gone, New England Patriots former first-round quarterback Mac Jones, who lost the starting role and ended up the third-stringer by the end of 2023, is a trade candidate in the coming weeks and will most likely end up somewhere else in 2024. The Patriots own the No. 3 overall pick in this year's NFL draft, and all indications are that they will seriously explore taking of the draft's top QBs as they move into the Jerod Mayo era in New England. If USC's Caleb Williams and North Carolina's Drake Maye go first and second in the draft, the Patriots could take a third QB or trade back with another team if they don't like who slides to them. Jones threw for 22 touchdowns as a rookie in 2021 but has regressed tremendously the last two years, which was one of the big reasons the team moved on from Belichick after 24 years and six Super Bowl rings.

The New England Patriots hired former Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt as their new offensive coordinator on Thursday, according to sources. The former NFL quarterback and long-time respective assistant spent the last four seasons as the Browns' offensive coordinator but will now head to New England to run the team's offense in head coach Jerod Mayo's first year taking over for the legend Bill Belichick. The hire signals that the Patriots may be moving to more of a West Coast-based offensive system in 2024. Van Pelt didn't call plays while with the Browns, but the 2024 campaign will be his 29th season in the NFL and his 20th as an assistant head coach. Cleveland's running game ranked in the top 10 in three of his four years as coordinator. He has spent the majority of his career working with QBs, so perhaps the Patriots will be hoping he can salvage Mac Jones.

The New England Patriots promoting linebackers coach Jerod Mayo to head coach to replace Bill Belichick gives the Kraft family the opposite of a power coach. As a result, reports suggest the Patriots are in no rush to hire a general manager and could wait until after the draft to amplify the impression. "The owner has been held back for 20 years. He is going to be involved. His son is going to want to be involved. It will be interesting if they tell the coach it was Bill's fault with Mac Jones and he can play and we gotta get him right," a veteran coach said. The Patriots hold the third pick in the upcoming draft and could select a quarterback then. Matt Groh and Eliot Wolf will continue to run the operation in the front office for New England and they'll likely interview additional candidates for leadership positions, but there's no guarantee anyone at the moment will be named GM.

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones will start in Week 12 against the New York Giants on Sunday, according to sources. However, backup Bailey Zappe is likely to be in the mix as well. The Patriots have been non-committal on their starting quarterback ever since the Week 10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany, a game in which Zappe replaced Jones with two minutes left in the fourth quarterback with the game still on the line. Both Jones and Zappe took repetitions in practice this week, with Jones reportedly looking better. Jones will get the start this weekend, but we could see Zappe relieve him much earlier if Jones continues to struggle like he has all year. Jones is completing 65.4% of his passes for 2,031 yards, 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 10 games.

Signs continue to point to New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones starting on Sunday for the Week 12 matchup against the New York Giants, but as of Friday, the players still had not been told which quarterback would make the start this weekend. Jones and Bailey Zappe split QB repetitions at practice during the week after a bye in Week 11, and Jones reportedly looked better. The 25-year-old appears likely to make the start on Sunday, but he'll most likely be on an extremely short leash and could be pulled early in favor of Zappe if he picks up where he left off in Week 10 in the loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany. At best, Jones is a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues and is in danger of losing the job at any moment if he continues to make poor decisions and make game-changing turnovers.

Nov 26 12:00am ET

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is expected to start in Sunday's meeting with the Giants. A report surfaced on Saturday suggesting the team wouldn't decide until Sunday morning if Jones or Bailey Zappe would be under center in Week 12. While things can certainly change, it appears the 2021 No. 15 overall pick will stay the No. 1 option on the depth chart. Jones has struggled during the 2023-24 campaign, throwing for 2,031 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions while completing just 65.4% of his attempts. That said, despite the favorable matchup, fantasy managers should keep Jones benched in Week 12, even more so since he could be pulled and replaced by Zappe during the contest if he doesn't play well.

Nov 22 10:50am ET

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones has struggled in his third NFL season, completing 65.4% of his passes for 2,031 yards, ten touchdowns, and ten interceptions. He was benched for Bailey Zappe for the team's last drive against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10, which led to speculation that Zappe could be named the starter after the team's Week 11 bye. However, Ben Belford-Peltzman of the Patriotsbeat.com reports that Jones is likely to start in Week 12 against the New York Giants. Zappe is expected to be on standby if Jones continues to struggle. Jones is not a viable fantasy quarterback in single-QB leagues. Zappe should be picked up in deep superflex and two-QB leagues in case he's named the starter down the stretch.

Nov 21 3:30pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones took the first-team repetitions in the portion of practice open to the media on Tuesday. Jones was followed by Bailey Zappe then rotated in, but Jones took most of the reps in the four minutes of practice that the media was allowed to watch. The Patriots benched the ineffective Jones with the game on the line at the end of the fourth quarter in favor of Zappe in the Week 10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany, leading many to believe they'd be moving on from Jones after their Week 11 bye. But the 25-year-old looks to have another shot at convincing Bill Belichick he's the starter this week in practice. Other than Zappe, Will Grier and rookie Malik Cunningham are New England's other options. No matter who is under center for the Pats in Week 12 against the New York Giants, the offense is likely to continue struggling.

Nov 14 12:10pm ET

When asked if New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is still the team's starter, head coach Bill Belichick said, "We have a lot of things to work on this week as a team. We'll work through those. That is what we are going to do this week." The Patriots will evaluate their whole roster heading into a Week 11 bye after losing three straight games. The 25-year-old Jones is having a disaster of a season in his third year, completing 65.4% of his 324 pass attempts for 2,,031 yards, 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions for a career-low 80.2 QB rating. The Pats benched Jones in favor of Bailey Zappe in the final two minutes of Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany. Jones's 10 picks are tied for second-most in the NFL, while his 6.3 yards per attempt is third-worst in the NFL. Zappe or Will Grier could get the nod in Week 12 against the New York Giants on Nov. 26.

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Monday that the team is looking "at everything across the board" when asked about a potential change at quarterback. Mac Jones was shown the bench for the Patriots' final drive of Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany. Second-year reserve Bailey Zappe entered the game and subsequently threw an interception. New England now gets to take their bye, so it's unlikely that an answer will be given this week. The Patriots own a 2-8 record and also average the second-fewest points per game. Neither quarterback will be a viable fantasy option nor create better opportunities for their supporting cast.

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones (undisclosed), who was benched in favor of Bailey Zappe in the final two minutes of the Week 10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany on Sunday, underwent X-rays after the game. However, he said he's just dealing with a bruise and will be fine. Jones had just 170 yards passing and a terrible interception in the end zone in the fourth quarter with a receiver open that cost the Patriots the game. New England has their bye in Week 11, but there's a good chance it will be Zappe, not Jones, starting under center for the Pats when they return in Week 12 to face the New York Giants. The 25-year-old Jones has regressed even more in 2023 in what is a make-or-break year for the former Alabama QB.

Nov 10 11:10am ET

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones has a chance to bounce back during Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts in Germany. The 25-year-old struggled last week, throwing for 220 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a loss to the Commanders. He also has seven interceptions over his last six games. Nevertheless, the Colts represent a chance for Jones to get back on track and deliver a solid fantasy showing. Indianapolis' defense has surrendered the 11th-most fantasy points and sixth-most passing yards to opposing quarterbacks this year, which bodes quite well for Jones as he looks to lead a banged-up roster to victory overseas. He'll be doing so without Kendrick Bourne (ACL), instead leaning on JuJu Smith-Schuster, Demario Douglas, and Hunter Henry as his preferred options in the passing attack. Games played in Europe tend to be lower-scoring affairs due to the grueling travel schedule and time zone adjustment, but there's still a chance for Jones to put up points against a Colts defense that has its flaws. View him as a low-end fantasy QB2 this week.

Nov 5 5:50pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones completed 24 of 44 passes for 220 yards, one touchdown, and one interception during Sunday's loss to the Washington Commanders. He also rushed for three yards and did not take a sack. If there was any week to start Jones, Week 9 seemed like a good one, especially against a mediocre Washington defense that recently traded away Chase Young and Montez Sweat. Nevertheless, New England, although they kept it close, spent most of the game playing from behind. Jones will remain a fantasy QB3 against the Colts in Germany next week.

Nov 3 9:30am ET

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is a borderline streamer in single-QB leagues ahead of Week 9 versus the Washington Commanders. Not only does he face a greater challenge after losing Kendrick Bourne (ACL) for the season, but he also takes on a statistically solid defense this week. While the Commanders might not be as dominant as some of the Patriots' opponents, including the Eagles, Cowboys, Saints, and Bills, it's worth noting that they have still allowed the 14th-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. Of course, that was with Chase Young and Montez Sweat on the team. Both defensive playmakers were traded this past week, which could not have come at a better time for Jones. The young quarterback will have more time in the pocket to make plays happen this Sunday. As a result, he's a mid-to-low QB2 who can be started in a pinch.

From RotoBaller

Nov 1 12:40pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones hasn't completed a pass over 20 air yards in over three weeks. The last time Jones connected on a deep throw was in the first quarter in the Week 5 loss to the New Orleans Saints. Since then, he's 0-for-3 on 20-plus air-yard throws, including the full game against the Buffalo Bills without a deep attempt. Jones is 4-for-23 on deep throws this year and has the lowest completion rate among 31 qualified QBs at 17.4 percent. It doesn't help that the Patriots just lost their leading receiver, Kendrick Bourne, for the season due to a torn ACL in his knee. Jones and the Pats offense has been downright bad at times this year, and he currently ranks as the QB31 in overall fantasy points heading into a Week 9 date with the Washington Commanders.

Oct 29 4:40pm ET

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones completed 19 of 29 passes for 161 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception during Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins. He also took three sacks and had negative two rushing yards. All in all, Jones had a relatively disappointing outing, especially since he seemingly dismantled a strong Buffalo defense just one week earlier. With that said, Jones' two touchdowns through the air salvaged his fantasy performance, benefitting any manager who may have been forced to start the former first-rounder on Sunday. Jones is a high-end QB3 heading into Week 9 versus Washington.

From RotoBaller

Oct 27 12:00am ET

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is a streaming option with intrigue heading into Week 8 versus the Miami Dolphins. After a very rough three-game stretch, Jones bounced back last week against the Bills, completing 83 percent of his passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns while leading his team to an upset victory. New England faces a relatively unimpressive Miami defense this week, leaving the door open for an offense-heavy, shootout-style performance on Sunday afternoon. Jones is far from a lock in fantasy football, but you could do worse at the quarterback position. Consider him to be a mid-range QB2 option.
