The Houston Texans agreed to a three-year, $36 million deal to re-sign tight end Dalton Schultz on Tuesday with $23.5 million fully guaranteed at signing, according to sources. Schultz will now remain a key weapon for second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud. Schultz was the top tight end scheduled to be a free agent this year, but the Texans made sure he wouldn't make it to the open market. The 27-year-old was a bit inconsistent for fantasy managers in 2023 in his first year in Houston, but his fantasy arrow is pointing up now that he's staying in Houston with Stroud, who looked like a seasoned veteran in his rookie year. In 15 regular-season games last year, Schultz finished as the No. 10 tight end in half-point PPR scoring, securing 59 of his 88 targets for 635 yards and five touchdowns.

Houston Texans impending free-agent TE Dalton Schultz reportedly agreed to terms on a three-year contract worth $36 million - including $23.5 million fully guaranteed - to remain with the team on Tuesday, March 5, according to sources.

Fantasy Spin: Schultz got off to a bit of a slow start in his first year in Houston, but he made up for lost time by scoring five touchdowns over a seven-week period. Although he doesn't usually offer much after the catch, this past year marked the fourth straight season in which he managed at least 57 catches, 577 receiving yards and four touchdowns. That is a relatively high floor at such a scarce position in fantasy football, which should make him an attractive low-end TE1 again in 2024.

Mar 3 3:33pm ET

Houston Texans impending free-agent TE Dalton Schultz is a candidate for the franchise tag if the two sides are not able to reach a contract agreement before the deadline Tuesday, March 5.

Fantasy Spin: Schultz was a reliable option in the passing game when healthy and appears to be on track to stay with the Texans for at least one more season. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 tight end in most fantasy leagues.

Feb 9 4:13pm ET

Houston Texans impending free-agent TE Dalton Schultz said he would like to re-sign with the Texans this offseason and believes the two sides will be able to reach an agreement.

Fantasy Spin: Schultz posted 635 receiving yards and five touchdowns during the regular season and probably will receive interest from several teams if he hits the free-agent market. He will see a good amount of targets if he remains with the Texans and could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in most leagues.

Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz caught five of his seven targets for 43 yards in a 34-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in their AFC Divisional Round playoff game.

Jan 18 11:20pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz will look to get more involved in Saturday's Divisional Round matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Schultz caught just one pass last week in the Wild-Card Round win against the Cleveland Browns. But it happened to go for a 37-yard touchdown. The 27-year-old will have another tough matchup against a Ravens' secondary that has allowed the third-fewest fantasy points to tight ends this season. Back in Week 1, when these two teams faced off, Schultz caught just two passes for four yards. Playing against this Baltimore defense makes him a tricky option this weekend.

Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz recorded one reception for 37 yards and a touchdown in a 45-14 win against the Cleveland Browns during Wild Card Weekend. He saw two targets.

Jan 13 8:20pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz caught his sixth touchdown of the season and first of the playoffs in the team's 45-14 win over the Cleveland Browns in the Wild-Card Round. Schultz wasn't utilized much in this contest after dropping a pass on the Texans' first drive of the game. However, quarterback C.J. Stroud went back to the tight end late in the second quarter for a 37-yard score. That was Schultz's only catch of the game, but it came at an opportune time, as it gave the Texans a 10-point halftime lead. He'll look to get more involved next week in the Divisional Round.

Jan 11 8:30pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz has a tough matchup in the first round against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are allowing the third-fewest fantasy points to tight ends this season. Despite Schultz catching eight passes for 61 yards back when these teams played in Week 16, that was with Case Keenum under center. There is potential for the 27-year-old tight end in this game, though. Both wide receivers Robert Woods (hip) and Noah Brown (back) are questionable for Saturday. If neither or one can't play, Schultz should see more opportunities in the passing game from quarterback C.J. Stroud. Either way, he should have a safe floor this weekend.

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz caught five passes in the team's 23-19 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 18. Schultz was quiet for most of the night but came up big in the Texans' go-ahead drive in the fourth quarter. The tight end caught three passes for 31 yards on that drive, including a key third-down grab. In the game, Schultz finished with five catches for 42 yards. The 27-year-old veteran will look to continue his solid season next week in the playoffs.

Jan 5 3:50pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz will look to rebound in Week 18 against the Indianapolis Colts. Schultz wasn't utilized much in last week's win over the Tennessee Titans, catching just two passes for 19 yards. But a better game could be in store on Saturday. The Colts have allowed at least five catches to tight ends in 12 of 17 games this season. In Week 2, though, the 27-year-old playmaker only caught four passes for 34 yards. However, with many key tight ends sitting out in Week 18, Schultz is a solid TE1 option.

From RotoBaller

Jan 1 10:40am ET

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz turned four targets into just two catches for 19 yards during Sunday's win over the Tennessee Titans. It was a disappointing outing from the 27-year-old, who was just one week removed from a big eight-catch, 61-yard outburst versus Cleveland. With that said, the Texans' passing attack didn't have to do much on Sunday given that they jumped out to an early lead over the Titans and never looked back. A much more pass-heavy approach would have worked in Schultz's favor. He continues to rank as a low-end fantasy TE1 versus Indianapolis next week.

From TheHuddle

Dec 30 3:00pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz will have a safe fantasy floor against the Tennessee Titans in Week 17. Despite the Titans being number one against fantasy tight ends this season, Schultz should see enough volume on offense with C.J. Stroud (concussion) back under center. Just two weeks ago, the veteran tight end caught four passes for 58 yards against this Titans' defense. That range of outcome is certainly possible again in Week 17.

From RotoBaller

Dec 25 1:10pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz led all Houston pass-catchers when he reeled in eight of his 11 targets for 61 yards in the team's 36-22 loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 16. Houston split quarterback reps between Davis Mills and Case Keenum, and Schultz remained a favored target for both of them. Schultz benefited from the team's early deficit as they looked to play catch up for the majority of the game. The sixth-year veteran remains a safe option in all formats for the team's Week 17 matchup against the Tennessee Titans but will have a higher ceiling if quarterback C.J. Stroud (concussion) is cleared to play.

From TheHuddle

Dec 23 2:40pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz has a tough matchup in Week 16 against the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland has allowed the fewest fantasy points to tight ends this season, making Schultz a low-end option this weekend. Last week, the veteran returned from a two-game absence and reeled in four catches for 58 yards. With Case Keenum under center, Schultz likely doesn't have a high ceiling. But even in a tough matchup, he could provide a safe floor.

Dec 17 10:30pm ET

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz returned from a two-game absence and helped lift the team to a 19-16 overtime win against the Tennessee Titans in Week 15. Schultz was dealing with a hamstring issue over the past few weeks, but he came back on Sunday and contributed with four catches for 58 yards. The 27-year-old tight end also finished with five targets, which was tied for the second most on the team. The veteran will look to continue his solid season next week against the Cleveland Browns.
