Updating a previous report, Free-agent QB Joshua Dobbs (Vikings) signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers worth $2.25 million, according to a source.

From TheHuddle

Mar 18 5:50pm CT

The San Francisco 49ers reached an agreement on an undisclosed one-year deal with free-agent veteran quarterback Joshua Dobbs on Monday, according to his agent, Mike McCartney. Dobbs will give the Niners more depth behind starter Brock Purdy after Sam Darnold signed with the Minnesota Vikings this offseason. The 29-year-old Dobbs was the early season feel-good story in the NFL last year with the Arizona Cardinals and Vikings, but he was ultimately benched in Minnesota after they acquired him in a trade. In 13 games played (12 starts), the Steelers' former fourth-round selection in 2017 out of Tennessee completed 62.8% of his pass attempts for 2,464 yards, 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Dobbs also added six rushing scores. He should be considered the favorite for backups duties over Brandon Allen.

Minnesota Vikings QB Joshua Dobbs will serve as the backup to QB Nick Mullens for Week 18's game versus the Detroit Lions, according to head coach Kevin O'Connell.

Minnesota Vikings QBs Joshua Dobbs, Jaren Hall and Nick Mullens will all be considered for the starting job in Week 17, head coach Kevin O'Connell said on Tuesday, Dec. 26.

Fantasy Spin: Mullens is the only one who is remotely a starting option after a productive Week 16, but even then, he's a total desperation play.

The Minnesota Vikings have declared OG Chris Reed, WR Jalen Nailor, S Lewis Cine, OT Brian O'Neill, QB Joshua Dobbs and TE Nick Muse inactive for Week 15.

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said that the team's decision on the starting quarterback will be made later in the week as they prepare to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 15 on Saturday. Minnesota considered benching Joshua Dobbs going into their Week 13 bye but stuck with him in the Week 14 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders for three quarters before benching him in favor of Nick Mullens after Dobbs went 10-for-23 for just 63 yards in the eventual 3-0 win. Mullens went 9-for-13 for 83 yards and led the team to the lone scoring drive in the entire game. With how badly Dobbs has played in his last two starts, it would be a surprise if the Vikes didn't turn to Mullens at this point. Mullens may be better at avoiding turnovers, but his ceiling won't be much higher as a low-end QB2 option in superflex fantasy leagues.

Dec 11 1:13am CT

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell declined to name a starting quarterback for the team's upcoming game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday, Dec. 16. QB Joshua Dobbs started in Week 15 but failed to generate any points and was benched for QB Nick Mullens, who led the team to a game-winning field goal.

Fantasy Spin: It sure seems like the team will turn to Mullens in Week 15, but fantasy owners should probably stay away from the situation entirely.

Dynasty | The Vikings replaced quarterback Joshua Dobbs with Nick Mullens in their 3-0 win against Las Vegas. Dynasty Analysis: In a game most will never talk about again, the Vikings turned to Nick Mullens after Dobbs went 10-of-23 for 63 scoreless yards. Dobbs has clearly cooled off after a hot start and it's hard to see him starting next week after being ineffective today and throwing four interceptions last week. In the end, Dobbs is what he is - a moderately capable backup quarterback. He's going to be tough to keep on rosters should Mullens be named the starter this week.

Dec 10 6:30pm CT

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs struggled in the narrow win over the Raiders in Week 14. The signal-caller threw 63 yards off 10-for-23 passing, adding five carries for 21 yards. In all fairness, both teams had trouble getting things going offensively, as the game was scoreless until late. But it's still worth noting Dobbs was benched late in the contest in favor of Nick Mullens, who went 9-for-13 passing for 83 yards. Nevertheless, Dobbs may not be under center in Week 15 against the Bengals. However, neither Dobbs nor Mullens is worth starting, even more so if Justin Jefferson (chest) and Alexander Mattison (ankle) aren't available.

Dec 9 2:50pm CT

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs will look to bounce back in Week 14 after a four-interception performance before the team's BYE week back in Week 12. The former Arizona Cardinal has produced solid numbers in his three appearances with the Vikings before his last outing, as he had found the end zone on the ground in three straight games, and five straight games if you go back to his days in Arizona. The dual-threat can be valued as a low-end QB1/high-end QB2 option against the Raiders defense that ranks 13th against quarterbacks in terms of fantasy production.

Dec 6 12:13pm CT

Minnesota Vikings QB Joshua Dobbs will start in Week 14, head coach Kevin O'Connell said on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Fantasy Spin: Dobbs came crashing back down to Earth in Week 12 after a four-interception performance against the Chicago Bears. He is not a suggested lineup option.

From TheHuddle

Dec 6 12:10pm CT

The Minnesota Vikings are sticking with Joshua Dobbs as their starting quarterback for Week 14 against the Las Vegas Raiders. The Vikings considered a possible change at the position during their bye in Week 13, but with All-Pro receiver Justin Jefferson (hamstring) returning from Injured Reserve this week, Dobbs will finally have the team's top offensive weapon to work with. Nick Mullens and rookie Jaren Hall were Minnesota's other options, so it was always more of a long shot that the Vikes would go away from Dobbs, who needs to cut down on his turnovers if he wants to keep the starting job the rest of this season. The 28-year-old is in a nice bounce-back spot as a QB2 with upside against Vegas this week after throwing four interceptions in the Week 12 loss to the Chicago Bears.

Dynasty | Joshua Dobbs threw for 185 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions in the Vikings Monday night loss to the Bears. Dynasty Analysis: It was a poor night for Dobbs as the magic which has fueled his recent rise ran out yet again. The crafty quarterback has been a story in 2023 but head coach Kevin O'Connell refused to commit to the veteran in week 14. The team has a its bye in week 13. The question as to who starts may come down to whether the team believes they are positioned for a deep playoff run or if they would be better served in seeing what rookie Jaren Hall, or veteran Nick Mullens, could offer off the bench. As for Dobbs, as this game displayed, he doesn't possess the skillset that will allow him to survive adversity to remain a starter over the long term. Dobbs is listed as DLF's QB36.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Nov 28 12:40am CT

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said the team will "take a look at everything" at quarterback after their bye in Week 13 and also acknowledged he thought about putting Nick Mullens in before Joshua Dobbs' touchdown drive in the tough 12-10 loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. "It started to get to the point where I was thinking about what would give us a spark," O'Connell said. Dobbs had done nothing to that point before leading the team's lone touchdown drive and finished with 185 passing yards and four damaging interceptions. The 28-year-old has come back down to Earth after an impressive start to his Vikings tenure. Dobbs probably gives the team the best chance to win over Mullens or Jaren Hall, but he's going to need to clean up the turnovers to keep the job if they give him another start in Week 14 against the Las Vegas Raiders on Dec. 10.

From RotoBaller

Nov 27 11:43pm CT

Minnesota Vikings QB Joshua Dobbs tossed four interceptions in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears, and head coach Kevin O'Connell said Monday, Nov. 27, that he considered replacing Dobbs with QB Nick Mullens before the team's lone touchdown drive. 'It started to get to the point where I was thinking about what would give us a spark,' O'Connell said. He added that the team will 'take a look at everything' in regards to quarterback after the team's bye.

Fantasy Spin: Dobbs has been a great story to date, but he has lost his past two starts, and he made some really poor decisions with plenty of miscues on Monday night. Fantasy managers might want to hang onto Dobbs if you have plenty of roster flexibility, but if you need the roster spot, it isn't a terrible idea to drop him after this stinker.

Nov 27 11:30pm CT

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs' fantasy stock took a nosedive in Monday's damaging 12-10 loss to the division-rival Chicago Bears, completing 22-of-32 passes for 185 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions with two carries for 11 yards. Dobbs underthrew Jordan Addison for his first pick early in the second quarter, before launching a bullet pass that bounced off Addison's hands for another on the following possession. Dobbs threw a couple more INTs that came on tipped passes, with one arriving after K.J. Osborn couldn't haul one in during the third period and another when a defender got a hand on it early in the fourth. Dobbs finally came to life when he marched the Vikings right down the field for a go-ahead scoring drive on a 17-yard T.J. Hockenson score, but Minnesota couldn't hold on and ultimately fell to 6-6. Dobbs hopes to put this one in the rearview mirror during a Week 13 bye before Weeks 14's matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.
