The Dallas Cowboys' defense has had a very up-and-down season through the first month. They looked like the unit we were all used to a season ago in Week 1 against Cleveland, but quickly fell off a cliff for Weeks 2 and 3. Week 4 against the Giants was no tough test, and now Dallas will face a conservative Pittsburgh Steelers offense in Week 5. Quarterback Justin Fields has been on a hot streak, accounting for six touchdowns and one turnover in the past three games. There are better streaming options available this week. Dallas is a fringe startable unit, but check free agency first for a better option against a weaker offensive unit.

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that he is preparing for quarterback Justin Fields to start again versus the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football in Week 5. Russell Wilson (calf) will reportedly do more in practice this week, and the Steelers are coming off their first loss of the year in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts, but the team appears to be sticking with Fields for at least another week. Despite his first loss as the starter, the 25-year-old Fields put up his best numbers of the year, throwing for 312 yards and a touchdown while carrying the ball 10 times for 55 yards and two more scores to almost lead the Steelers to a comeback win on the road. If Fields continues to play the way he has been as a dual threat at the position, it seems hard to imagine Pittsburgh turning to Wilson anytime soon. Fields will have high-end QB2 value in fantasy against Dallas in primetime.

Steelers' QB Justin Fields scored an impressive 36.10 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 4 loss in Indianapolis. Fields threw for 312 yards on 22-of-34 with one touchdown. It's the 1st time this season Fields scored at least 25 fantasy points in a game.

Sep 30 1:30am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields completed 22 of 34 pass attempts for 312 yards and a touchdown through the air while logging 10 carries for 55 yards and two additional rushing scores in a 27-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The Steelers struggled on both sides of the ball in the first half, but Fields put the offense on his back and nearly led the team to a comeback win. Fields was sacked four times on Sunday and lost what could have been a costly fumble, but Indianapolis missed a field goal on its subsequent possession. Although he made a few mistakes, Fields reminded fantasy managers of his high-end QB1 upside on Sunday. The 25-year-old is developing chemistry with pass-catchers George Pickens and Pat Freiermuth while continuing to be a threat with his legs. Fields will look to get Pittsburgh back in the win column against the Dallas Cowboys next week.

Dynasty | Steelers quarterback Justin Fields completed 22-of-34 passes for 312 yards and a touchdown, adding 55 rushing yards and two more scores in an upset loss to the Colts. Dynasty Analysis: Fields was forced to throw more than usual in this one and did just fine. While he hasn't been spectacular this season, he has thrown for three touchdowns, added three more scores on the ground and taken care of the football for the most part, with just one interception on the season. Pittsburgh is a good football with some clear problems, but Fields just doesn't seem to be one of them. His dynasty arrow continues to be stable as it would be a shock to see Pittsburgh turn to Russell Wilson any time soon.

Steelers' QB Justin Fields passed for 312 yards on 22-of-34 with one touchdown in Sunday's loss in Indianapolis.

Sep 28 1:50am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields has led the team to three straight wins and will look for similar success in a home matchup with the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts are surrendering the second-most total yards of offense and have been vulnerable against fantasy quarterbacks so far this season. With how dominant Pittsburgh's defense has been, it's difficult to expect an abundance of points in this contest, but Fields can get the job done for fantasy purposes as a threat through the air and on the ground. He is averaging over nine carries per game and scored his first rushing touchdown of the campaign last week. Fantasy managers should view Fields as a low-end QB1 or high-end QB2 this Sunday.

Sep 24 7:20pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers left guard Isaac Seumalo (pectoral) has a chance to play in Week 4. He suffered his injury prior to the opening of the regular season and has yet to play in 2024. He is a huge piece of a much improved Steelers O-line. Should Seumalo return this week he would provide a massive boost for Steelers running backs Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. Additionally, Seumalo would help quarterback Justin Fields, and by extension, wide receiver George Pickens and tight end Pat Freiermuth. If he is unable to play in Week 4, then fantasy managers can find comfort in the fact that Seumalo appears to be close to returning. This situation is worth monitoring for everyone rostering Steelers skill position players.

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters on Tuesday that the team is in the same place with quarterback Russell Wilson (calf) health-wise heading into a Week 4 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, and the veteran signal-caller will likely be limited in the first practice of the week on Wednesday. "As we walk into the building tomorrow, I want Justin Fields singularly focused on starting for us," Tomlin said. Wilson was named the starter under center at the start of training camp but aggravated a calf issue before the season-opener, and Fields has taken over and led Pittsburgh to a surprising 3-0 start. While Fields hasn't been amazing, he's done enough to hold off the recovering Wilson. The 25-year-old has completed 73.3% of his passes for 518 yards, two TDs and one pick while carrying the ball 28 times for 90 yards and another TD. Fields will be a high-end QB2 in Week 4.

Dynasty | Steelers quarterback Justin Fields completed 25-of-32 passes for 245 yards, with one touchdown and one interception in Pittsburgh's win against the Chargers. Dynasty Analysis: He added six rushing yards and a touchdown. Fields is now 3-0 on the season and it seems like a near certainty he remains the Steelers starter moving forward. Russell Wilson is reportedly close to a return but Pittsburgh has created some masterful game plans with Fields at the helm and that seems highly unlikely to change. Fields has some low-end QB1 appeal with his rushing ability and should be held on to tightly at the moment. As for Wilson, Fields' success is bad news.

Sep 22 4:50pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields completed 25 of 32 attempts for 245 yards, one touchdown, and one interception while rushing for six yards and a score in a win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Outside of a turnover coming off a deflected pass, Fields was incredibly effective under center, leading Pittsburgh to its first 3-0 start since 2020. The 25-year-old completed each of his first 10 throws and scrambled into the end zone early in the second quarter. While George Pickens remained his favorite target, it was wideout Calvin Austin III on the receiving end of Fields' touchdown pass, a strike over the middle of the field taken 55 yards to the house. Fields is looking increasingly comfortable in offensive coordinator Arthur Smith's system and should be viewed as a high-end QB2 in fantasy for as long as he keeps the starting gig.

Sep 20 4:10pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson (calf) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game, which puts Justin Fields in line to start his third straight game for the Steel City. Wilson was initially named the team's starting QB but suffered a calf injury before the opening week, which pushed Fields up the depth chart. Fields has led the Steelers to two straight victories, averaging 136.5 passing yards and 42.0 rushing yards per game. Even though Fields is not lighting up the scoreboard, he is putting the Steelers in a position to win games. For the time being, fantasy managers should expect the former first-round pick to continue to be the No. 1 QB in Pittsburgh and be viewed as a high-QB2 given his rushing ability.

Dynasty | The Steelers are prepping for this week's game with Justin Fields as their starting quarterback. Dynasty Analysis: Russell Wilson is nearing a return but it's hard to see him taking over Fields as long as the Steelers keep winning. While Fields has been far from dominant as a passer, he's kept the team moving, followed a game script and, most importantly, avoided mistakes. When you consider Fields is also making plays with his legs that Wilson presumably could not, this looks like a done deal at the moment. Fields is no more than a QB2 at the moment and the dynasty candle for Wilson is simply starting to burn out.

Sep 17 1:10pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced on Tuesday that the plan is for quarterback Justin Fields to make another start in Week 3 against the visiting Los Angeles Chargers this Sunday. The team is "readying itself" for Fields, while Russell Wilson (calf) won't be a full participant in practices just yet this week. "We'll stay in that mindset until something happens," Tomlin said. Fields hasn't been amazing in two starts to begin the year, but he's led the Steelers to two wins, hasn't turned the ball over and has completed a career-high 69.8% of his passes. For now, Pittsburgh isn't going to rush Wilson back from his calf strain, and if Fields continues to play well, there's a chance that Wilson may not get the starting job back. In addition to taking care of the football, the 25-year-old Fields has carried the ball 22 times for 84 yards. He'll be a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues in Week 3 versus the Bolts.

Sep 16 12:10am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields completed 13 of 20 pass attempts for 117 yards and one touchdown in a Week 2 win against the Denver Broncos. He added 27 rushing yards on eight carries. Fields was excellent in the first half where he did nearly all his damage, including a five-yard touchdown pass to tight end Darnell Washington to close Pittsburgh's second drive of the contest. The 25-year-old additionally had a 51-yard completion and a six-yard touchdown pass, both to wide receiver George Pickens, called back due to penalties in the second quarter. It remains to be seen if Russell Wilson (calf) will immediately claim the starting job when healthy, but if Fields gets the nod against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3, he'll remain a QB2 option in superflex formats.

Dynasty | Steelers quarterback Justin Fields completed 13-of-20 passes for 117 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in Pittsburgh's win against Denver. Dynasty Analysis: This game was as ugly as the 13-6 score indicates but Fields again did what Pittsburgh asked him to do - manage the offense and not make mistakes. His 27 rushing yards all come at big times and Fields has now gone two straight weeks without turning the ball over. Pittsburgh is winning with an elite-level defense and Fields still has work to do to hold off Russell Wilson, but it's hard to see Wilson starting a game before Fields loses one. He'll remain a QB2 moving forward but things are looking up for Fields as he looks like he's matured under Mike Tomlin (who somehow continues to win despite sub-par talent).

Sep 14 10:00am ET

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields is in line to start this Sunday against the Denver Broncos, and the team is also preparing for him to start in Week 3, according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Fields has been the Steelers' primary quarterback lately with Russell Wilson (calf) nursing an injury. Fields didn't score a touchdown in Week 1, but he was still solid, completing 74 percent of his passes for 156 yards through the air and also rushing 14 times for 57 yards on the ground. Furthermore, he wasn't responsible for any turnovers. The former first-round pick helped lead Pittsburgh to victory over the Falcons and their respectable defense, so he's poised for a strong showing against a less-intimidating Broncos defense in Week 2. Fields' rushing upside puts him in the fringe top-12 quarterbacks range.

Sep 13 11:00pm ET

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields is set to make a second consecutive start in Week 2 against the Denver Broncos. Fields was not asked to do much in last week's season opener but looked solid, completing nearly 74% of his passes. Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith finished as the QB7 in Week 1 against the Broncos, who were decimated by Fields in 2023. The former Bear posted arguably the best passing performance of his NFL career when he faced Denver last season, throwing for 335 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. That said, Sunday's contest is projected to be incredibly low-scoring, so fantasy managers would be wise to temper their expectations for Fields and Pittsburgh's offense. Although his rushing ability puts him on the map as a streaming candidate in any format, Fields should be considered a high-end QB2 this week.

Sep 10 1:10pm ET

According to Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, the Steelers are "preparing as Justin Fields is our QB" ahead of their Week 2 road matchup in Denver against the Broncos this coming Sunday. All offseason, Pittsburgh's coaching staff reiterated that veteran quarterback Russell Wilson (calf) was their starter, but a calf injury suffered in training camp has resurfaced, causing him to miss the season-opening win against the Atlanta Falcons, and it's looking like he'll start the year with two straight games on the sidelines. He's not on track to start practicing again until Thursday, so Pittsburgh may play it safe and sit him out again against his former team, the Broncos. Fields, 25, didn't lead the offense to a single touchdown in the win over Atlanta, but he also didn't turn the ball over. If he makes a second straight start against Denver, he'll be in play as a QB2 in superflex leagues, but the ceiling is low in this offense.

Sep 8 8:38pm ET

Dynasty | Steelers quarterback Justin Fields completed 17-of-23 passes for 156 yards, adding 57 rushing yards in Pittsburgh's opening day win against Atlanta. Dynasty Analysis: It was a decent day for Fields, who quite honestly wasn't asked to do too much. He was able to find George Pickens for a few chunk gains but otherwise took what the defense gave him. Fields didn't do enough to make Russell Wilson irrelevant, so we'll see what this week brings us. At this point, Fields remains a decent hold in dynasty leagues until he can wrestle the job away from Wilson officially.
