New England Patriots tight end Jonnu Smith has surpassed 30 yards in only three games this season. However, one of them was a three-catch performance for 49 yards last week. Despite that, it's tough to believe Smith can replicate that performance against the Buffalo Bills in Week 13. A defense that has allowed the fifth-fewest points to tight ends this season. Smith is normally barely involved in the passing attack and that'll likely happen again. He should be considered a desperation TE2 for this week.

Nov 29 10:40am ET

New England Patriots tight end Jonnu Smith surprisingly put together a decent performance against the Tennessee Titans in Week 12. He hauled in three of his four targets for 49 yards in the win. Obviously, the Patriots wanted to get Smith involved against his former team. However. it's not very often that Smith hauls in more than two receptions per game. He normally isn't heavily involved in the passing attack. It's unlikely that he'll have a big game against the tough Buffalo Bills defense next week. He'll be a desperation deep league option for that matchup.

Nov 28 12:10pm ET

New England Patriots tight ends Hunter Henry (neck) and Jonnu Smith (shoulder) are both active for the Week 12 battle against the Tennessee Titans, as expected. Both players were listed as questionable on the final injury report but were expected to play after practicing all week. Henry and Smith will continue to split playing time at the position on Sunday. Henry has been much more productive than Smith this year, catching 33 passes for 378 yards and seven touchdowns. Smith has just 22 receptions for 210 yards and one score in 10 games. There hasn't been much volume for New England's tight ends, but Henry is the preferred red-zone target and will remain a low-end, touchdown-dependent TE1.

New England Patriots TE Jonnu Smith (shoulder) is active for Week 12's game against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Spin: Smith had been listed as questionable on the injury report after being a limited practice participant throughout the week. He only has four catches for 34 yards over his last three games and is not a recommended option in any fantasy format.

New England Patriots TE Jonnu Smith (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 12's game against the Tennessee Titans, according to a league source.

Fantasy Spin: Smith had been listed as questionable on the injury report after logging three limited practice sessions during the week . Even though he will probably see a few targets this afternoon, he only has 34 combined receiving yards over the past three games and is not a recommended option for fantasy lineups.

From TheHuddle

Nov 26 6:20pm ET

New England Patriots tight ends Hunter Henry (neck) and Jonnu Smith (shoulder) were both limited in practice all week and are questionable for the Week 12 date against the Tennessee Titans. Barring setbacks, we'd expect both Henry and Smith to be active on Sunday against a Titans defense that has allowed just 356 receiving yards and three touchdowns to tight ends all season. Henry and Smith combined for only three catches for 42 yards on five targets in last Thursday's blowout win over the Atlanta Falcons. Henry has been the much better fantasy option this year with 11 more receptions and six more touchdowns than Smith on seven more targets. Henry will be the better target as a touchdown-dependent, low-end TE1 as long as both players are active.

New England Patriots P Jake Bailey (knee), DT Christian Barmore (knee), LB Ja'Whaun Bentley (ribs), OT Trent Brown (calf), RB Damien Harris (neck), TE Hunter Henry (neck), LB Dont'a Hightower (ankle), TE Jonnu Smith (shoulder) and RB Rhamondre Stevenson (knee) were limited in practice on Friday, Nov. 26, and are listed as questionable for Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans. OL Shaq Mason (abdomen) and LB Kyle Van Noy (groin) were not given a practice designation on Friday but are expected to be available.

Nov 24 8:30pm ET

New England Patriots tight ends Hunter Henry (neck) and Jonnu Smith (shoulder) were both limited in practice on Wednesday. Both players should be active this Sunday when the team takes on the Tennessee Titans, barring a setback later this week. Smith returned in Week 11 but continued to take a back seat to Henry, although he had only one fewer reception and target than Henry in the blowout win over the Atlanta Falcons. The two combined for just three receptions on five targets for 42 yards. Henry will likely continue to see a few more targets per game than Smith, and Henry has scored seven times compared to Smith's one trip to the end zone in 2021. Henry is the preferred touchdown-dependent, low-end TE1 for Week 12 against Tennessee.

Nov 24 6:03pm ET

New England Patriots TE Jonnu Smith (shoulder) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Spin: Smith is averaging just over two catches a game and has only 34 yards over the last three weeks. He will see a few targets this week but can be avoided in all leagues.

From TheHuddle

Nov 23 11:03pm ET

New England Patriots TE Jonnu Smith is in the middle of a 'foundational year' with the team, according to offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. 'There's a lot of different things you have to do well,' McDaniels said. 'Jonnu's tried really hard to do all the things we've asked him to do.'

Fantasy Spin: Smith is sitting on just 22 catches for 210 yards and a touchdown in his first season with the Patriots, and he has just hasn't carved out a steady role. He could make a big jump with a year of experience under his belt, but it is tough to see Smith helping fantasy owners down the stretch this season.

From TheHuddle

Nov 18 7:23pm ET

New England Patriots TE Jonnu Smith (shoulder) is officially active for the Week 11 game.

Fantasy Spin: Smith probably will see a few targets in the passing game but can be avoided in most leagues.

From TheHuddle

Nov 17 5:00pm ET

New England Patriots running back Brandon Bolden (hip) and tight end Jonnu Smith (shoulder) are listed as questionable for Thursday night against the Atlanta Falcons after they were both limited in practice all week. Bolden played only 27% of the offensive snaps and had three carries for 32 yards and caught three passes for 38 yards with Damien Harris (concussion) inactive last weekend. With Harris back this week, Bolden shouldn't be in starting lineups. Smith has been the less effective tight end behind Hunter Henry for New England this year and has been a desperation low-end TE2 when active. His return would put a dent in Henry's upside as a touchdown-dependent low-end TE1.

From RotoBaller

Nov 17 4:43pm ET

New England Patriots TE Jonnu Smith (shoulder) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 17, and is listed as questionable for Week 11.

Fantasy Spin: Smith may be a game-time decision after missing the last game because of the same injury. He has not been a big factor in the passing game this season and can be avoided in most leagues even if he is active.

From TheHuddle

Nov 17 5:30am ET

New England Patriots running back Brandon Bolden (hip) and tight end Jonnu Smith (shoulder) were limited participants in Tuesday's practice. Bolden and J.J. Taylor served as change-of-pace options behind rookie Rhamondre Stevenson in the Week 10 win over the Cleveland Browns while Damien Harris (concussion) was out. The veteran running back logged 27% of the offensive snaps and racked up 70 total yards of scrimmage in Sunday's win. Harris returned to practice Tuesday and is trending in the right direction toward suiting up for Thursday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons. The 31-year-old is in the RB conversation if Harris is ruled out. Smith missed Week 10 due to a shoulder injury. He's logged back-to-back limited practices and could return for Thursday's game. Smith is low-end TE2 if active Thursday as Hunter Henry is the Patriots' primary tight end after catching seven touchdowns over his last seven games.

From RotoBaller

Nov 16 8:20pm ET

New England Patriots tight end Jonnu Smith (shoulder) was listed as limited in practice for the second straight day on Tuesday. Smith suffered a shoulder injury in Week 9 and missed the Week 10 blowout win over the Cleveland Browns, but it looks like he might have a chance to return on Thursday night against the Atlanta Falcons. The 26-year-old hasn't been playable in fantasy lineups this year behind Hunter Henry, as he has just 21 catches for 193 yards and one touchdown on 34 targets in nine games (seven starts). Henry caught all four of his targets for 37 yards and two touchdowns with Smith inactive on Sunday, and he has seven TDs on the season as one of rookie quarterback Mac Jones' favorite red-zone weapons. If Smith misses another game, Henry's stock as a touchdown-dependent low-end TE1 will go up.

New England Patriots TE Jonnu Smith (shoulder) was limited during practice Monday, Nov. 15. The Patriots did not hold a practice Monday, so this is an estimation.

Fantasy Spin: Smith was inactive for the Week 10 game but may have a chance to play in Week 11. He will only see a few targets if he is active and can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

From TheHuddle

Nov 15 5:50pm ET

New England Patriots running back Brandon Bolden (hip), tight end Jonnu Smith (shoulder), wide receiver N'Keal Harry (knee) and kicker Nick Folk (knee) were all listed as limited on Monday's estimated practice report. Bolden and J.J. Taylor served as change-of-pace options behind rookie Rhamondre Stevenson in the Week 10 win over the Cleveland Browns with Damien Harris (concussion) inactive. Bolden had just three carries and caught three passes, though, so he'd be a low-upside RB4/flex if Harris misses another game. Smith was inactive on Sunday, leading to Hunter Henry catching two touchdown passes in the blowout win. Folk continues to play through a knee issue and has been the best fantasy kicker through 10 weeks.
