Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur implied that we'll see more of new running back Josh Jacobs in the passing game than the 40 catches per year he averaged in five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders. "Just studying him, I think there's more out there for him in regards to the passing game, using him out of the backfield. He's put some really good choice routes on tape. That's something we always try to get to," LaFleur said. Despite Jacobs ranking second in carries since entering the NFL behind only Derrick Henry, don't expect that to change how the Packers split carries in their backfield with AJ Dillon re-signing. However, there's a possibility Dillon doesn't make the team, so Jacobs' spot as the feature back is about the only sure think in Green Bay's backfield. Even if Jacobs losing carries to Dillon or another back in Green Bay, his increase in receptions should keep him afloat as an RB1 in fantasy in his new home.

Dynasty | The Packers are signing running back Josh Jacobs. Dynasty Analysis: This move was a stunner as the Packers were seemingly set at the position with Aaron Jones, who was subsequently released. Jacobs had a horribly disappointing season with Las Vegas this past year, rushing for about half the league-leading total of 1,653 he posted in 2022. Still, he's only 26 years old and should be primed for a bounce-back as the centerpiece of the offense. Jacobs' ranking of RB11 should be intact for the moment.

Free agent running back Josh Jacobs is expected to sign with the Green Bay Packers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 26-year-old two-time Pro Bowler played on the franchise tag for the Las Vegas Raiders last season, posting career lows in rushing yards (805) and rushing touchdowns (six). However, he has three seasons of at least 1,000 rushing yards and led the league in 2022 with 1,653 rushing yards. The former first-round pick will now join Jordan Love's ascending offense, meaning AJ Dillon is likely headed elsewhere. The Packers still have Aaron Jones on the roster, so it'll be interesting to see how the backfield shapes out.

The Las Vegas Raiders have been trying to re-sign running back Josh Jacobs, according to sources. However, it appears Jacobs is headed for the open market at noon on Monday. The Raiders elected not to use the franchise tag on Jacobs for the second straight season, which essentially assured that the 26-year-old would reach the open market this offseason. Jacobs led the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards in 2022 with the Raiders, but he played in just 13 games in 2024 and finished with a disappointing 805 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns on 233 carries this past season, adding 37 catches for 296 yards through the air. Despite his down season, Jacobs will have plenty of suitors on the free-agent market, and it remains to be seen if the Raiders will actually be able to retain him. Wherever Jacobs lands, he's still likely to be in the RB1 picture in fantasy.

Mar 5 8:30pm CT

As expected, the Las Vegas Raiders didn't use the franchise tag on running back Josh Jacobs by the deadline on Tuesday. It's not surprising at all that the Raiders elected not to use the franchise tag on Jacobs after he regressed in 2023, as the tag would have cost them $14.1 million for the 2024 season. Jacobs will hit the open market next week when free agency kicks off, joining a strong group of RBs that will include Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, Austin Ekeler, Tony Pollard and D'Andre Swift. We'll have a better idea of Jacobs' 2024 fantasy value when we know where he'll be playing, but he'll most likely be a risk/reward RB1. He played in 13 games in 2023 and finished with a career-low 805 rushing yards and six rushing TDs a year after leading the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards in 2022.

Las Vegas Raiders general manager Tom Telesco said the team is going to try and bring back impending free-agent running back Josh Jacobs this offseason. "We're going to explore pretty hard and see if we can bring him back," Telesco said. The news comes a day after it was reported that the Raiders are unlikely to use the franchise tag on the 26-year-old, which would cost them $14.15 million in 2024. After posting a league-high 1,653 rushing yards and a career-high-tying 12 rushing touchdowns in 2022, Jacobs played in just 13 games in 2023 due to injuries and finished with a career-low 805 rushing yards (3.5 yards per carry) and six rushing TDs on 233 attempts. Jacobs has cleared 1,000 yards rushing in three of his five NFL seasons and still has RB1 upside, but his fantasy stock is going to be down this fall, especially if he leaves Vegas and lands in a less favorable situation.

Dynasty | The Raiders are reportedly unlikely to use the franchise tag on running back Josh Jacobs. Dynasty Analysis: The Raiders didn't sign the 2022 rushing leader to a long-term deal at this time last season and likely don't see that as a decision to regret. Jacobs struggled last year for a variety of reasons and saw his rushing total get cut in half. While there are a lot of fingers to point in terms of the reasons why, the numbers are still the numbers. Las Vegas reportedly wants him back but are unwilling to break the bank to do so. Jacobs will enter the free agent market that's loaded with ball carriers, so it's going to be interesting to see just what he can secure. In terms of dynasty value, things are clearly in flux for him at the moment.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Feb 26 3:40pm CT

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs is unlikely to be franchise-tagged this offseason, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The organization will attempt to re-sign the 2022 NFL leading rusher, but there's a chance he will hit the open market. The Raiders placed the franchise tag on Jacobs last March and ultimately offered him a one-year deal worth up to $12 million. After a 1,653-yard rushing season in 2022, Jacobs rushed for just 805 yards on 3.5 yards per carry in 2023. He showed clear signs of regression in his fifth NFL season, so no team is likely to break the bank for a player at a devalued position. Either way, Jacobs' offseason movement is worth monitoring ahead of the 2024 NFL season. He should have fantasy value whether he stays put or lands somewhere else.

Dynasty | The Raiders have reportedly not engaged in contract talks with impending free agent running back Josh Jacobs. Dynasty Analysis: It seems almost a given the Raiders are going to let Jacobs test the open market. They could franchise tag him but that seems unlikely given the fact he had a massive regression last season. In fact, Jacobs was only able to post around half of his rushing yardage from his league-leading season in 2022 when he rushed for over 1,600 yards. New Head Coach Antonio Pierce seems committed to re-establishing Jacobs and he was clearly better once he took over. Still, Jacobs may get a better contract elsewhere, making Zamir White a potentially hot commodity. Stay tuned.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Feb 22 9:00pm CT

The Las Vegas Raiders and impending free-agent running back Josh Jacobs have yet to engage in contract-extension talks this offseason, according to a league source. If the Raiders want to prevent Jacobs from becoming a free agent on March 13, they could place the franchise tag on him for $13.669 million (by March 5) in 2024. The Raiders are projected to have around $35.2 million in salary cap space this year, but that's still a large cap hit to carry for a RB in today's game. Jacobs is also coming off career-lows in rushing yards (805), yards per carry (3.5) and yards from scrimmage (1,101) and missed the final four games due to a quadriceps injury. If they don't bring Jacobs back, they'd be handing the starting role to Zamir White, who played well last year in Jacobs' absence. But Jacobs was an All-Pro in 2022 and could easily bounce back in 2024 at just 26 years old.

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs (quad) has been ruled out for Week 18 versus the Denver Broncos. This should not come as a surprise considering Jacobs missed all three practices this week. The 25-year-old had been impressive for most of the season before missing the Raiders' final four games of the year. This has been difficult for fantasy managers in the playoffs, especially those who were unable to add Zamir White to their rosters. White is expected to lead the Raiders' backfield this week versus Denver, ranking as a low-end fantasy RB3.

Jan 5 1:10pm CT

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs (quadriceps) will be a game-time decision for the Week 18 regular season finale against the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Jacobs has missed the last three contests and didn't practice at all on Wednesday or Thursday. However, the Raiders aren't ruling the 25-year-old out for the final game of the year under interim head coach Antonio Pierce. If Jacobs is indeed active on Sunday against the division-rival Broncos, fantasy managers should consider him an extremely volatile starting option with the Raiders likely to limit his snaps in his first game back, especially since backup Zamir White has been extremely efficient as the team's lead back the last three games with Jacobs sidelined.

Jan 4 5:20pm CT

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs (quadriceps) missed another practice on Thursday. Interim head coach Antonio Pierce said on Wednesday that Jacobs is expected to be a game-time decision for the Week 18 regular season finale against the Denver Broncos this Sunday, but the 25-year-old will probably need to practice on Friday, at least on a limited basis, if he's going to be a realistic option to play in what is a meaningless game between division rivals. Jacobs hasn't played in the last three games due to his quad issue and would be a very volatile, high-priced DFS asset on top of it. Zamir White has been excellent as the Raiders' starting RB the last three games, averaging 4.83 yards per carry for 285 yards and a touchdown on 59 attempts while catching eight passes for 51 yards. White is the better DFS value against a vulnerable Broncos rush defense if Jacobs is inactive.

Jan 3 1:30pm CT

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs (quad) is going to be a game-time decision for the Week 18 game against the Denver Broncos, according to interim head coach Antonio Pierce. Last year's rushing champion has missed each of the last three games due to a quad injury, and although the Raiders are eliminated from playoff contention, he wants to "fight until the end." If he plays, he's a must-start fantasy option against a Broncos defense that has allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to running backs this year. If he can't suit up, Zamir White remains an RB1 or RB2 option in the favorable matchup. This could be Jacobs' final game as a Raider, so it will be interesting to see if he can get healthy enough to play in the season finale.

Dec 31 10:40am CT

As expected, Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs (quadriceps) is officially out for the Week 17 contest versus the Indianapolis Colts, according to a source. The Raiders were holding out a sliver of hope that their lead back could return this weekend, but Jacobs wasn't able to practice all week and will miss his third straight game. It remains to be seen if he'll play in the Week 18 regular season finale next Sunday, Jan. 7, against the Denver Broncos. With Jacobs out for a third straight game, Zamir White will once again carry the load in the Raiders backfield and will have RB3/flex appeal on the road in Indy for fantasy managers. In the last two weeks against the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs, White has seen 39 carries for 214 yards and a touchdown and added three catches for 16 yards on five targets.

Dynasty | Josh Jacobs is not expected to play in week 17. Dynasty Analysis: Carrying a doubtful tag for the week, this news items is far more about his future in Las Vegas, or lack of it. Ahead of what will be a wave of quality free agent running backs available in 2024, it will be a surprise if Jacobs plays another snap for the Raiders. Already disgruntled with having to play 2023 under the franchise tag, Jacobs simply has no reason to suit up again for the team who is on the brink of being eliminated from the playoffs. That said, should the team sneak into the playoffs, he could appear for the team one last time. It's nearly impossible to forecast how the running back market will play out next year, but Jacobs figures to be one of the higher priced signings when the dust settles. Turning 26 early in 2024, Jacobs is found as DLF's RB9.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Dec 30 1:40am CT

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs has now missed Weeks 15 and 16 due to a leg injury sustained in the Raiders Week 14 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. In his absence, Zamir White has taken on the starting job and done a respectable job in the role. The Raiders take on the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17. The Colts are among the easiest matchups for running backs, so Jacobs would be in an advantageous position if he suits up for the contest. Jacobs was listed as a DNP for all three days of practice this week, so his listing of doubtful appears closer to out. Fantasy managers should plan to be without Jacobs for fantasy championship week in most leagues.

Dec 29 3:40pm CT

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs (quad) did not practice this week and is officially doubtful to play against the Indianapolis Colts. At this rate, it appears that he will miss his third consecutive game. Fantasy managers can expect Zamir White to operate as the Raiders' top running back with Jacobs sidelined. The 24-year-old has been quite productive over his two starts, registering 214 rushing yards, 16 receiving yards, and one touchdown. He should be treated as a mid-to-low RB2 in most fantasy leagues this week.

Dec 29 11:20am CT

Las Vegas Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce said that running back Josh Jacobs (quadriceps) will be a game-time decision on Sunday for the Week 17 contest against the Indianapolis Colts. Jacobs missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday and is trying to avoid sitting out a third straight game with his quad injury. The 25-year-old could have a shot to play on Sunday if he practices on Friday, but he could have his snaps limited if he returns this weekend as well, making him a volatile fantasy option in championship matchups. If Jacobs does sit out a third straight game, Zamir White will be on the RB3/flex radar as Vegas' primary running back. The good news for those that have to make a decision on Jacobs is that the Raiders play early on Sunday.

From RotoBaller

Dec 28 3:50pm CT

Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs (quadriceps) missed another day of practice on Thursday. Jacobs injured his quadriceps muscle in Week 14 and has missed each of the last two games. He's not on the right track towards returning to play this Sunday on the road in Indianapolis against the Colts, either. The Raiders believe that the 25-year-old has a chance to play in Week 17, but Jacobs is probably going to have to step foot on the practice field on Friday for that to be realistic. When healthy, he's a must-start RB1 for fantasy managers for the volume he receives alone. Zamir White has been productive as the Raiders' lead back the last two games with Jacobs sidelined, so he'll have at least RB3/flex appeal for those hurting at the position if he gets a third straight start.
