Los Angeles Rams kicker Joshua Karty will debut at home in Week 3 against San Francisco after two road contests to start his rookie season. Karty is a perfect 3-for-3 on field goals this season with a long of 41. He has yet to be tested on a 50-plus yard attempt but he looks the part so far. The Stanford product has also made all three of his extra points. He will need more scoring opportunities to be on the fantasy kicker radar, and the Rams' depleted offense might not be able to provide those right now. In a tough matchup against a good San Francisco defense, there are plenty of kicker options to start over Karty.

Los Angeles Rams rookie kicker Joshua Karty (groin) will be listed as questionable for the team's Week 3 contest this Sunday against the division-rival San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Sean McVay said he won't know whether Karty will be able to go this weekend until after Friday's practice. If Karty isn't cleared by the team to kick against the Niners, Tanner Brown would be the next man up for the Rams' kicking game. No matter what happens with LA's kicking situation on Sunday, fantasy managers should be looking to avoid it against a strong 49ers defense. On top of the bad matchup, the Rams are missing their top two pass-catchers in Cooper Kupp (ankle) and Puka Nacua (knee). The 22-year-old Karty has made all three of his field-goal attempts and all three of his extra-point opportunities this year in the first two games of his NFL career.

Los Angeles Rams rookie kicker Joshua Karty turned in a good performance in Week 1 in a hostile environment at Detroit. He made two field goals with a long of 41 yards and all of his extra points. With another test on the road, this time against a division opponent, the pressure will once again be on the Stanford product. But he looked up to the challenge in Week 1 and was unfazed by the raucous crowd. Fantasy managers can wait and see how Karty backs up his opening performance, but he could emerge later in the season as a viable starting fantasy option at the position.

Los Angeles Rams rookie kicker Joshua Karty did not appear intimidated by a large crowd and raucous road atmosphere in his first NFL game at the Lions on Sunday night. The Stanford rookie made both of his field goals, including a 41-yarder, and buried both of his extra-point attempts. It was a good sign that Karty could be a viable fantasy kicker this season. He looked smooth and unfazed in both of his field goal attempts, albeit in a controlled indoor environment at Ford Field. There could be some growing pains along the way for Karty but he looks like an NFL-ready kicker as the Rams probably expected after selecting him with a sixth-round pick in this year's draft. With other solid kicker options out there, fantasy managers can take a bit of a wait-and-see approach with Karty, but he could end up being a useful fantasy option this season.

Los Angeles Rams rookie kicker Joshua Karty will be put to the test early in his career in a hostile environment Sunday night against the Lions. The Stanford rookie, who was drafted in the sixth round of the 2024 Draft, figures to be involved heavily in a game that could be a shootout. He should get plenty of opportunities for extra points and field goals if the Rams stall out on a few drives. In a raucous environment, it is hard to predict how the rookie will fare if he is faced with some long field goal attempts. The good news is he will be kicking indoors at Ford Field so he won't have to deal with inclement weather or wind. Karty is likely on the waiver wire in shallow leagues so it might be best to see how he does with his first assignment before deciding whether he should be your fantasy kicker this season.

Los Angeles Rams rookie kicker Joshua Karty appears to have won the starting job with the release of Tanner Brown on Tuesday. Karty is the only kicker currently on the Rams' roster. An All-American at Stanford, Karty was one of three kickers selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. He converted both of his field goal attempts, plus the game-winning extra point, in his preseason debut against Dallas. Karty is a deep sleeper candidate at the position, playing for one of the better offenses in the NFL.
