The 22-year-old Davis is merely a stash candidate in deep dynasty/keeper fantasy leagues this year. He was a workhorse back in his time at South Dakota State and has enough size and power to be intriguing as an early-down back if he ever sees significant playing time down the road. With Davis looking primed for the RB3 role to begin the year, it means that Israel Abanikanda will open the season as the team's RB4.

Davis also caught his lone target for no gain in Saturday's victory over Carolina. The Jets chose the 22-year-old South Dakota State product in the fifth round of this past spring's NFL Draft to bolster their backfield depth following last year's losses of backups Dalvin Cook and Michael Carter. While he reeled in four passes for 33 yards in last week's preseason opener, Davis' impact in the receiving game figures to be minimal behind workhorse starter Breece Hall this season, and he looks to be no greater than the No. 3 option on the depth chart ahead of his final chance to make a case for a spot on New York's roster in next Saturday's preseason finale at MetLife Stadium against the New York Giants.

However, he only generated eight yards on the ground over four carries. Davis is one of three Jets tailbacks vying for the No. 2 role this summer behind starter Breece Hall on New York's RB depth chart, and he at least showed on Saturday afternoon against the Commanders that he can contribute through the air when given the opportunity. The 22-year-old South Dakota State product put up a robust 7.6 yards per carry over his four-year college career, but for now, he looks like the fourth option out of the backfield in the Meadowlands behind fourth-round rookie Braelon Allen and 2023 fifth-rounder Israel Abanikanda.

Unfortunately for Davis, rookie fourth-rounder Braelon Allen has been one of the biggest standouts during OTAs because of his emergence as a pass-catcher despite his reputation as a bruising power back in college. Davis and Allen have gotten more reps thanks to a minor lower-body injury that has kept starter Breece Hall on the sidelines this offseason. As of right now, both Davis and Allen have pushed 2023 fifth-rounder Israel Abanikanda down the depth chart. Davis' dynasty stock is up, and he could eventually develop into a short-yardage option for the Jets.
