Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (ankle) was able to practice in full on Thursday after he was listed as a limited participant for the first practice of the week on Wednesday. Even though Schultz is on the Week 3 injury report, his return to a full practice on Thursday should pave the way for him to be active this Sunday to take on the 2-0 Minnesota Vikings. There are a lot of mouths to feed through the air in this Houston offense, and Schultz has only garnered six targets through two games, hauling in five of them for 37 yards and no touchdowns. The slow start has pushed him down to TE2 territory in fantasy, but the Week 3 matchup against the Vikings could put him in play to have his best game of the early 2024 campaign. The Vikings defense has allowed the fifth-most half-PPR fantasy points to the tight end position through two games.
From RotoBaller
Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (ankle) practiced in full on Thursday, Sept. 19, after being limited the day before.
Fantasy Spin: After ranking as a top-10 option at tight end in 2023, Schultz is barely in the top 25 through two weeks. That's not entirely surprising, though, considering all the mouths the Texans have to feed in the passing game. Schultz is no longer the must-start option he was last year and is probably better off on the bench.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans RB Joe Mixon (ankle) and RB Dameon Pierce (hamstring) did not practice on Thursday, Sept. 19. Also, LB Azeez Al-Shaair (shin), CB Kris Boyd (hip), WR Nico Collins (hip, foot), DL Folorunso Fatukasi (shoulder), OL Jarrett Patterson (calf), OL Juice Scruggs (groin) and DB M.J. Stewart (knee) were limited and TE Dalton Schultz (ankle) and CB Kamari Lassiter (elbow) practiced in full.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 18.
Fantasy Spin: Schultz is off to a disappointing start to the season with only five receptions and 37 yards in two games. Fantasy players can consider benching Schultz if they have a better option available.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz had two receptions (on three targets) for 21 yards in a win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Sept. 15.
Fantasy Spin: With so many mouths to feed in the passing game, it's hard to imagine Schultz being a regular contributor this season. He has five catches and 37 yards through two games, meaning Schultz should only be owned in leagues with rosters deep enough to carry a second tight end.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (ankle) fully practiced on Friday and doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday Night Football's showdown against the Chicago Bears. He has been dealing with an ankle injury this week but is all systems go for Sunday night. The 28-year-old played nearly 80 percent of Houston's snaps last week, an encouraging sign for someone in the low-end TE1 range. However, with just three targets, he was tied for fourth on the team with running back Joe Mixon. The former Dallas Cowboy was behind receivers Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs, and Tank Dell in the pecking order in Week 1. Schultz has three red flags two red-zone targets in his past eight games, heavy competition for targets, and an injury that should have fantasy managers exploring other options for a tight end streamer.
From RotoBaller
Houston Texans CB M.J. Stewart (knee) did not practice on Friday, Sept. 13, and has been ruled out for Week 2. Also, RB Dameon Pierce (hamstring) and C Juice Scruggs (groin) did not practice and are questionable, and WR Nico Collins (illness) and TE Dalton Schultz (ankle) practiced in full and were removed from the injury report.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (ankle) practiced in full on Friday, Sept. 13, and carries no designation into Week 2.
Fantasy Spin: Things weren't looking good for Schultz after not practicing the first two days, but he appears to be just fine. Schultz is a high-end TE2 ahead of Week 2.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (ankle) picked up an injury during Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts. The 28-year-old has missed practice each of the last two days. It's now being announced that Schultz is dealing with an ankle sprain. The good news is that the injury isn't considered severe, so Schultz should be able to suit up in Week 2. There is still a chance for Schultz to practice on Friday, which would give him a better chance of playing this weekend. Otherwise, Brevin Jordan and Cade Stover would likely split up the reps. Neither player is an ideal streaming option if Schultz is forced out of action.
From RotoBaller
Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (ankle) has not been ruled out for Week 2 at this point despite missing the first two practices of the week, and there is some optimism that he may be available to play, according to a source.
Fantasy Spin: It appears like Schultz could be a game-time decision, so fantasy players should continue to monitor the situation. He was not a big factor in the passing game in Week 1 but could be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some deeper leagues if he plays.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz's (ankle) was held out of practice for the second straight day this week on Thursday, putting his status up in the air for the Week 2 tilt at home against the visiting Chicago Bears. Schultz will likely have to suit up in some capacity at Friday's practice to avoid being ruled out entirely. The 28-year-old caught all three of his targets for only 16 receiving yards in a disappointing first game in the Week 1 win over the division-rival Indianapolis Colts as well. As things stand right now, he is shaping up as a very shaky TE1/2 for fantasy managers against a tough defense this weekend. If Schultz is out on Sunday or limited on offense, the Texans would be forced to turn to some combination of Brevin Jordan and Cade Stover at the position. Fantasy managers looking for a TE streamer would be better off looking elsewhere.
From RotoBaller
Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (ankle) and S M.J. Stewart (knee) did not practice on Thursday, Sept. 12. In addition, WR Nico Collins (illness), RB Dameon Pierce (hamstring) and C Juice Scruggs (groin) practiced in full.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (ankle) did not participate in practice for a second consecutive day on Thursday, Sept. 12.
Fantasy Spin: Schultz caught all three of his targets in the opener but only for 16 scoreless yards. Whereas he was a strong low-end TE1 last season, he is no better than fourth in line for targets behind Nico Collins, Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell this year even when he is fully healthy. For desperate fantasy managers relying on him or looking to replace an injured option such as Jake Ferguson or David Njoku, Brevin Jordan and rookie Cade Stover could be worth a look.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury. Apparently Schultz is a little gimpy after the team's Week 1 win over the division-rival Indianapolis Colts. The 28-year-old played a healthy 79 percent of the team's offensive snaps but disappointed his fantasy managers in the season opener by catching all three of his targets for just 16 yards. His status for the rest of the week should now closely be monitored, and he could head into Sunday's Week 2 game against the visiting Chicago Bears with an injury designation. Schultz is on the TE1/2 borderline most weeks given all the mouths to feed in Houston's passing game. If Schultz's injury is too serious for him to play this weekend, Brevin Jordan would most likely take his spot as the top pass-catching tight end for the Texans on Sunday.
From RotoBaller
Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.
Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players will need to check later in the week to see if Schultz will be able to play in Week 2. He is coming off a disappointing Week 1 performance but could still be a low-end No. 1 tight end in some deeper leagues.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz ended up with three catches for 16 yards on three targets in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts.
From TheHuddle
Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz delivered his strongest preseason performance against the New York Giants on Saturday, catching three passes for 39 yards, including a standout 26-yard reception from C.J. Stroud. Schultz emerged as Stroud's most targeted player while the starters were on the field, receiving five of Stroud's 12 throws. This is a promising sign for Schultz, who faces competition for targets from three top wide receivers. However, Schultz's role is somewhat overshadowed by his backups; Brevin Jordan also saw two of Stroud's 12 targets and looked solid with the starters, while rookie Cade Stover has been impressive in previous preseason games. Despite these challenges, Schultz remains a valuable high-end TE2 with the potential for high-ceiling weeks in a dynamic Texans offense.
From RotoBaller
Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Monday, July 22.
Fantasy Spin: Fantasy players can keep an eye on the situation to see if Schultz is dealing with an injury. He should see a decent amount of targets each game this season and could be a low-end No. 1 or high-end No. 2 tight end depending on the fantasy league.
