Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

Fantasy Spin: Darnold should not have any limitations this week against the Green Bay Packers despite injuring his knee in Week 3. He should be a starting option in all two-quarterback leagues and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in very deep leagues.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold (knee) participated fully in Wednesday's team practice. Darnold sustained a minor knee injury and missed just one play in the team's convincing 34-7 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday. Concerns arose when it was reported he was scheduled for an MRI on his injured knee, but imaging came back clean, and he'll be a full-go for the team's Week 4 road tilt against the Green Bay Packers. The 27-year-old currently garners the thirteenth-most passing yards in the NFL, though he leads the league in touchdown passes -- tossing eight through the team's first three contests. It's been an excellent start to the season for the former third-overall pick. He and the Vikings have been one of the more pleasant surprises thus far in 2024, and he has quickly thrust himself into weekly lineup consideration.

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold (knee) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Spin: Darnold suffered the injury in the last game but does not appear to be in danger is missing the Week 4 game. He is coming off a four-touchdown performance in Week 3 and has thrown at least two touchdowns in every game. He should be a starter in two-quarterback leagues and could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in some deeper leagues.

Sep 24 1:00pm ET

Vikings' QB Sam Darnold scored 25.05 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 3 win against the Texans. Darnold threw for 181 yards on 17-of-28 with four touchdowns.

Sep 23 6:10pm ET

The Minnesota Vikings announced on Monday that quarterback Sam Darnold (knee) suffered a left-knee bruise in the Week 3 win over the Houston Texans, but he's not expected to miss any time. Don't be surprised to see Darnold on the team's Week 4 injury report, but it sounds as though he's fully expected to play this Sunday when the team travels to Lambeau Field to face the division-rival Green Bay Packers. The 27-year-old came out for a play in the third quarter of the 34-7 blowout win over Houston. The former first-round pick heads into Week 4 with a league-leading eight touchdown passes while completing 67.9% of his pass attempts for 657 yards in three games despite not having receiver Jordan Addison (ankle) for two games. Going into this weekend's game on the road, Darnold should be considered a high-end QB2 in fantasy.

Sep 23 2:43pm ET

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold (knee) avoided major injury and was diagnosed with a knee bruise with no structural damage, according to sources Monday, Sept. 23. He is not expected to miss any time.

Fantasy Spin: Though Darnold could be a bit limited by the knee injury, he's still a solid QB1 option for managers as he currently leads the league in passing touchdowns.

Sep 23 9:03am ET

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold (knee) will have an MRI after he suffered a knee injury during the game Sunday, Sept. 22. 'It's good, and that's as much as I'm gonna say about that,' Darnold said.

Fantasy Spin: Darnold took a low hit from former Vikings EDGE Danielle Hunter and only missed one play. He's the QB3 in fantasy right now so stay tuned. Nick Mullens is the Vikings' backup.

Sep 23 12:30am ET

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold (knee) will undergo further evaluation on Monday, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. The quarterback played through the injury on Sunday against the Houston Texans, throwing for 181 yards and four touchdowns. He has led the Vikings to an improbable 3-0 start and hopes to keep that momentum going into Week 4 against the Green Bay Packers. Based on his postgame comments, it doesn't sound like Darnold is too considered about his knee injury. However, he did mention that he's not sure yet whether it will limit him in practice this week. Fantasy managers invested in Darnold and the other Vikings playmakers should continue to monitor the quarterback's status when injury reports come out on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. If healthy and active, Darnold ranks as a low-end fantasy QB1.

Sep 22 8:40pm ET

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold lit up the Houston Texans defense in Week 3, putting together another impressive game. The 27-year-old veteran completed 17 of his 28 pass attempts for 181 yards and four touchdowns, finding wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jalen Nailor, running back Aaron Jones, and tight end Johnny Mundt for scores. Darnold has been a pleasant find for fantasy managers who prefer streaming quarterbacks, as the former first-round pick has been a QB1 through three weeks. In an intriguing matchup, the Vikings will travel to play the Green Bay Packers in Week 4. Darnold may be a viable streaming candidate moving forward until proven otherwise.

Dynasty | Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold completed 17-of-28 passes for 181 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in a blowout win over Houston. Dynasty Analysis: So far, so good for Darnold and the 3-0 Vikings. At this point, Darnold has eight touchdown passes and just two interceptions on the season and clearly looks like the player the Jets thought they drafted a few years ago. While there's a long way to go this season, Darnold looks like a Comeback Player of the Year candidate and a legitimate starting quarterback in the league. The Vikings will have decisions to make in the future regarding his future (and that of JJ McCarthy), but they'll worry about that later. Darnold has QB1/2 appeal moving forward and should be on rosters everywhere.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Sep 22 5:53pm ET

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold went 17-for-28 for 181 yards and four touchdowns against the Houston Texans in Week 3.

Fantasy Spin: Darnold has thrown at least two touchdowns in each of the first three games of the season and appears to be very comfortable with the Vikings offense. He should be a starting option in two-quarterback leagues and could be a possible low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues next week against the Green Bay Packers.

From TheHuddle

Sep 20 3:30pm ET

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold impressed in back-to-back weeks to open the NFL season. He will look to continue his success against the Houston Texans in Week 3. Despite the former first-round pick's reputation as an inconsistent turnover machine, he's led the Vikings to a surprising upset over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2 en route to finishing as the overall QB4. Darnold will be without second-year wideout Jordan Addison (ankle) for the second game in a row, leaving the quarterback without the full wide receiving room at his disposal. Nevertheless, the 27-year-old quarterback will represent Houston's biggest passing challenge thus far and could be in line for another top-15 QB finish.

From RotoBaller

Sep 15 10:03pm ET

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold completed 17 of his 26 passes for 268 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a 23-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2.

Fantasy Spin: Darnold has been solid through the first two weeks of the season, tossing a pair of touchdowns in both contests. The change of scenery has Darnold looking like a viable QB2.

From TheHuddle

Sep 15 9:40pm ET

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold completed 17-of-26 passes for 268 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the team's 23-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers. He added 32 yards on the ground on five carries. When Minnesota beat up on the New York Giants last weekend in their 28-6 win, Darnold's excellent performance could have been written off as a fluke. However, that case is no longer as cut-and-dry with the Viking's surprise defeat of the reigning NFC champions. It's been quite the start to the year for the 27-year-old, who is now on his fourth NFL squad. Through two contests, he's racked up 476 yards and four scores while completing a crisp 72% of his passes. Superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson -- who caught a 97-yard touchdown Sunday -- was diagnosed with a quad bruise during the matchup but does not believe he'll miss any time. With his stellar start, the third-overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft has begun to creep into streaming consideration leading up to the team's Week 3 tilt against the Houston Texans.

Sep 15 6:13pm ET

Dynasty | Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold completed 17-of-26 passes for 268 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the Vikings win against San Francisco. Dynasty Analysis: Darnold has had a dream start to the year as he's led Minnesota to 51 points and two wins to start the season. While Darnold isn't putting up video game numbers, he's making solid decisions and taking care of the football. Today's game was extremely promising as he held strong against one of the league's toughest defenses. He could have had an even bigger game had Aaron Jones not fumbled a "would be" touchdown in the second half at the goal line. Darnold is going to be in consideration in Superflex leagues moving forward and should be rostered everywhere.

From Dynasty League Fantasy

Sep 13 9:20pm ET

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold surprised many fantasy managers by finishing as the 13th overall quarterback in Week 1 against the New York Giants and was a hair away from finishing in the top ten in the position. However, Darnold and the Vikings will face much tougher competition in Week 2 as the San Francisco 49ers travel to Minnesota. The 49ers defense held Aaron Rodgers to less than 10 fantasy points and under 200 yards passing on Monday Night Football. Added to the defensive challenge, the Vikings have ruled out wide receiver Jordan Addison (ankle) for Week 2, limiting potential explosive possibilities for Darnold's passing attack. While the seven-year veteran quarterback may perform better than Rodgers due to the better team and health context surrounding him, expect Darnold to regress a bit this week. He is mainly an option in 2QB or superflex leagues for Week 2.

From TheHuddle

Aug 17 3:30pm ET

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold won't be active for Saturday's preseason showdown with the Cleveland Browns. Instead, No. 2 signal-caller Nick Mullens will get the start. With J.J. McCarthy (knee) out for the season, Darnold is now atop the Vikings depth chart. The 27-year-old spent his first six seasons in the league with the Jets, Panthers, and 49ers. However, he never met expectations, throwing for 12,064 yards, 63 touchdowns, and 56 interceptions while completing just 59.7% of his throws. While McCarthy could still eventually earn the starting job in Minnesota, Darnold has a chance to turn things around this season, especially with Justin Jefferson on the roster, arguably the top wideout in the National Football League.

From RotoBaller

Aug 17 2:43pm ET

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold will not play in the preseason Week 2 game on Saturday, Aug. 17. QB Nick Mullens will start instead and QB Matt Corral will play after.

From TheHuddle

Aug 14 9:50pm ET

After the news of Minnesota Vikings rookie first-round quarterback J.J. McCarthy (knee) being out for the season after undergoing season-ending knee surgery, head coach Kevin O'Connell was effusive in his praise for starting quarterback Sam Darnold. "Our football team has been and will continue to be excited about Sam Darnold and what he's been able to bring," O'Connell stated before the beginning of the team's joint practice with the Cleveland Browns. Darnold is now pressed into action for what looks to be the entirety of 2024 following the stunning injury news about the 2024 No. 10 overall pick McCarthy. While the excitement in fantasy circles for the former first-round pick Darnold is somewhat shaky, he's clearly in the best situation he's been in as a pro. Darnold is at worst a low-end streaming QB2 option in redraft leagues and a low-end QB2/high-end QB3 in superflex formats.
