Carolina Panthers QB Andy Dalton (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 26.

Fantasy Spin: Dalton will receive another start after playing very well last week. He probably will see his numbers drop some this week but could be a possible starting option in two-quarterback leagues.

Coming off an excellent performance against the Raiders, Carolina Panthers Andy Dalton looks like a good play in Week 4 against Cincinnati. Dalton's former team, the Bengals, just gave up a big quarterback performance to Jayden Daniels of the Commanders. Dalton was 26-of-37 passing for 319 yards and three touchdowns in his Week 3 start after taking over for Bryce Young. He will be without one of his top weapons in Adam Thielen (hamstring) who was placed on IR. Still, Diontae Johnson, Xavier Legette, and Jonathan Mingo should be able to pick up the slack in a favorable matchup. The Red Rifle popped up on the Panthers' first injury report of the week with an ankle issue but was listed as a full participant on Wednesday. Dalton looks like a potential starting fantasy quarterback this week depending on roster construction at the position. He finished as the QB6 in Week 3 and a similar performance this week is not out of the question.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton (ankle) appeared on the team's injury report Wednesday but was a full participant in practice. It's unclear when the 36-year-old sustained the injury, but Panthers fans can breathe a sigh of relief as it does not appear to be serious. The long-time Bengal lit it up in his first regular-season action since Week 3 of 2023, becoming the first signal-caller this season to rack up 300 yards (319) and toss three touchdowns in a single outing. It was a vintage performance from the Red Rifle, leading Carolina to its first victory of 2024 and first win since Week 15 of last season. The Panthers will host the 0-3 Cincinnati Bengals in Week 4, and Dalton has worked his way into streaming consideration ahead of this matchup after his dominant performance. The "revenge game" narrative only makes this contest more exciting. He'll be a QB2 with upside.

Carolina Panthers QB Andy Dalton (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Spin: Dalton took over the starting job last week and finished with 319 yards and three touchdowns. He probably will not post numbers like that this week but could still be a possible option in two-quarterback leagues.

Panthers' QB Andy Dalton scored 27.95 fantasy points in Sunday's Week 3 win in Las Vegas. Dalton threw for 319 yards on 26-of-37 with three touchdowns.

Sep 23 10:40pm ET

Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales reiterated that veteran quarterback Andy Dalton is the starting QB after he led the team to their first win of the season over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3 on Sunday. "Andy's our quarterback. He gives us our best chance to win," Canales said. Carolina decided to bench Bryce Young, the first overall pick in 2023, after two disastrous outings to begin his sophomore campaign. Dalton proceeded to go 26-for-37 for 319 yards with three touchdowns and no interception in a surprising 36-22 win over Vegas. The Red Rifle instantly made the Panthers' offense better in his first start of the year, and while Young is expected to start again at some point in 2024, this is Dalton's show for now. QB-needy fantasy managers in superflex leagues could do worse than Dalton in a pinch heading into Carolina's Week 4 meeting against his former team, the Cincinnati Bengals.

Sep 23 3:23pm ET

Carolina Panthers QB Andy Dalton will remain the starting quarterback, head coach Dave Canales told reporters Monday, Sept. 23.

Fantasy Spin: This isn't a surprise at all after Dalton threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns in a Week 3 win. He should still be viewed as a QB2 for fantasy but if he shows some consistency, there's upside here as a potential streamer in certain matchups.

Dynasty | Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton completed 26-of-37 passes for 319 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions in Carolina's win over the RaIders. Dynasty Analysis: Oh boy. In just one start, Dalton had more yards, three more touchdowns and three fewer interceptions than Bryce Young had in his first two starts of the year combined. While Carolina may be excited to win this game, it also could have solidified the worst - the problem clearly was Young at the helm. With Dalton making this team more than competitive for at least one week, it's clear we won't see Young next week and may not for a while. Young's dynasty arrow is going to go down even further after this.

Sep 22 9:50pm ET

Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton completed 26 of 37 passes for 319 yards and tossed three touchdowns in the team's 36-22 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Dalton had the Panthers' offense humming on Sunday, putting together TD drives of 70, 75, 68, and 69 yards. It was an impressive performance from the 36-year-old veteran in his first start since Week 3 of 2023. The Red Rifle was sharp in this one, completing a pass to seven Panthers and ripping impressive throws all over the yard. Carolina had scored just one touchdown in its last four regular season outings dating back to last season, and the team's 36 points were their most since Christmas Eve of 2022 when they scored 37. Carolina's decision to bench second-year starter Bryce Young was a good one, as they recorded their first win in the last six contests. They'll look to get in the left column again when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals at home in Week 4.

Sep 22 8:23pm ET

Carolina Panthers QB Andy Dalton completed 26-of-37 passes for 319 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 3 against the Las Vegas Raiders, and he ran twice for minus-2 yards.

Fantasy Spin: Dalton made the Carolina offense look like an NFL-caliber unit again, as he took the reins from the benched Bryce Young. It was like night and day. That being said, Dalton should still be treated as a low-end QB2 in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams, but remember him as a streaming option when the byes start to kick in.

Sep 22 11:23am ET

Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young's benching following the team's Week 2 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in favor of QB Andy Dalton is not considered to be permanent, according to multiple sources. The thinking is that Young will regain the starting role at some point later this season, although head coach Dave Canales did not detail how long he would remain on the sidelines. The organization still views Young as their long-term solution at quarterback and feels that he would benefit most from watching.

Fantasy Spin: Dynasty owners should continue to hold on to Young, who had recently attracted the interest of multiple NFL teams looking to see if the Panthers were considering trading him. Dalton should be viewed as a midrange QB2 option for as long as he is the starter, although his fantasy ceiling isn't very high.

From TheHuddle

Sep 19 9:40am ET

Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton will take over for Bryce Young in the team's Week 3 game against the Las Vegas Raiders but should not be a fantasy option in fantasy leagues. With some decent offensive weapons in Diontae Johnson, Adam Thielen, and Xavier Legette, Dalton could provide a useful upgrade from Young in NFL terms but it's best for fantasy managers to take a wait-and-see approach with how Dalton looks in this offense. The Panthers have looked like a disaster to start the season and despite benching Young, it's not clear if he was the problem or it was the offense in general. There are better options out there in the quarterback landscape and you would have to be in a desperate situation to consider starting the "Red Rifle".

Carolina Panthers QB Andy Dalton was named the starter after the team decided to bench Bryce Young on Monday, Sept. 16.

Fantasy Spin: Dalton should raise the floors of the receiving options like Diontae Johnson, Adam Thielen and Xaiver Legette, but he shouldn't be viewed as more than a mid-QB2 option with a low ceiling.

From TheHuddle

Sep 16 2:03pm ET

Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young will be benched in favor of Andy Dalton, according to sources Monday, Sept. 16.

Fantasy Spin: This is a massive development in Carolina. Dalton won't save the offense, but he may raise the floor for players like Diontae Johnson, who now enters WR4 territory until we see the connection with Dalton. A potentially more stable offense also gives Chuba Hubbard a slight boost as an RB3. Dalton himself should be viewed as a mid-QB2 option.

Aug 2 8:20am ET

Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton (quad) is currently in danger of missing the beginning of the regular season. The 36-year-old suffered a quad injury that is expected to hold him out for a few weeks. This doesn't mean too much for the Panthers considering Bryce Young is the starter in Carolina. Dalton is a 13-year veteran with a ton of experience, but he offers little upside on the field right now. He'll serve as the No. 2 quarterback once he's healthy, so fantasy managers can continue avoiding him.
